New Engine(What should I go with?)

Hello,

Just wanted a little input from you guys, I'm hoping to get a new engine soon, the max I am looking to spend is 3k installed. I want to keep it fuel injected. What are my options? How much HP can I afford? Can anyone recommend a good place?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

PS: I'd be happy with 300hp, I'd be looking to add stealth ram in the future.....

A 5.3 liter swap would net 300 HP, run better than anything older without a cam swap and be more fuel efficient, ect. Look in the LS swap section and see there are some that said they did it for 3000$.

Re: New Engine(What should I go with?)

This would be a little more then what your looking for but with some great results.

I know of a site where you can get a remanufactured 350hp Chevy Gen I 350 with 400lbs tq, COMPLETE ENGINE with a 12,000mi 12 month warranty (or a 36,000mi 36 month warranty for $250 more). It’s called www.cmengines.com. It's pretty much teh same thing as a ZZ4.
383 Stoker for $500 more (425hp 500+tq). Once again, these are COPLETE engines. You can get just the block or whatever too, but the complete engine is only slightly more expensive and worth the money to have it done right and completed.
Anyway, if you’re curious, look at street performance engines.
People who have done business with them here have nothing but positive things to say about them.
Hope this helps man.

Re: New Engine(What should I go with?)

Generally,

and adding

Unless you're really into your own wrenching, and have the requisite
assembly tools (ring compressor, torque wrench, etc.), crate engines
are available in a wide variety of configurations, that can be good deals.
Take some time to shop around and find what will best suit your needs.

While LS swaps can produce great results, the adaptor pieces needed
will detract from the engine budget. With a 350-based crate engine, all
your accessories are ... bolt-on.

These projects are much like planning for trips -- half as much stuff,
twice as much money. $3000 is doable, but if waiting can get the budget
up to $4000, I promise you'll like the results much better. Especially if
you can bring it in with a few hundred left over for goodies like f-i upgrades.

Good luck
