Anybody here live in and around Lawton or SW OK?

Hello all,

I just registered today but have been a big fan of thirdgen.org for a while now. Was just wondering if there were any of you in the Lawton/Duncan/Chichasaw area? I have most sertainly seen several, quite a few, third gen's on Sheridan Rd. cruising in Lawton.

I look forward to any replies.

Rachel

Broken Arrow? Wow, that's all the way over there by Tulsa! What's it like up there? I've never been more North than OKC before. (Here in OK, that is.)

It's just that I've seen SO many 3rd gen F-Bodies here and it seems like nobody will give anybody else the time of day. Sure, they'll race you, but nothing ever comes out of it. I think we should all get together and try to learn from each other. I don't know about the rest of the people on the boards, but I get to be so happy whenever another F-Body parks next to me. This may sound weird, but if its another Firebird I always check to see if it has a dash/map pocket/pouch. Its just an odd fetish of mine, I guess.

It's ok up here. I know a few thirdgeners but there's no real clique or anything. When ever I see another one I always have to talk to them though. There are a lot of Mustang groups who hang out though. I haven't been to Tulsa Speedway yet (i don't know why I've had my car for 3 years) but there is a cruising scene on Memorial I check out every once in a while. Although we usually go in my friend's Duster (it's faster than mine right now). If anyone from Tulsa reads this we really need to get something put together.

Wichita Falls, Texas here. No, it's not Oklahoma but it's only about 30-40 minutes south of Lawton.

Whicita Falls is a nice city. I wish I could spend more time there. I wish OK could be as liberal as things are down there with the lottery and all.
Why is it that Mustangs have more of a sense of community than we do? That has mystified me in the two years I've had my Firebird. You know, I try to stop and talk to people, too. Its more difficult for me, tho. I dont get alot of respect being a girl and all. (But it is funny to see a guy's face in my rearview after a girl's blown him off the road!) You know, its not just third gen's, either. I've met people with all other gen's and they all act the same way. The one incident of commutity that I've ever witnessed out here was a few weeks ago on Lawton's Sheridan RD. I was parked behind two identical 99 WS6 TA's-- one was green, the other was silver. A punk Steve McQueen-era Mustang pulled up in front of them while we sat at Wayne's Drive-In waiting for our food. He threw a few pitiful rev's at them. The green TA to my left let roll fly and I nearly lost my hearing. The Mustang was scared, or stupid, and left-- followed by BOTH TA's. I've never seen a car get beat as bad as that Mustang did that night.
That is all the comunity I've ever seen out this way. I feel that F-Bodies should unite and become stronger. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Duncan? That's so cool. That's where I took my driving test! (In my mom's Rodeo with no brakes.) I would love to talk to you. I haven't been on ICQ in ages, email is good for me.
Have you been into Lawton with it? I may have seen you if you have. Does Duncan have a cruise? I'm always there with my parents, so I don't know.
