Re: tampa?

Would anyone be willing to PM me with the name/address of an exhaust shop that could possibly assist me with my desire to "downsize" the number of emissions components that are currently welded into my exhaust system?

Well, I think I can make that!! Hopefully I will not get too embarrassed and there are other "starter" cars out there. It is certainly not ready for any shows yet. I will be the "tampa girl."

I just had my car painted 3 months ago, before that it was multicolored and I still took it everywhere so don't worry about the condition of yours.

There are other female 3rd gen enthusiasts here in the Tampa area, so you can be one of the "tampa girls."

I'd like to try and setup a Tampa meet one night just to meet everyone before the august 21st car show. Think you could make it out one night before then?

Re: tampa?

21st is right around the corner, but why not? I just bought her, and I don't know her very well yet, but she seems to run pretty dang good. Other than being squeaky as all get out and no A/C yet, I think I can trust her to drive distances....
I loaned out my truck this week, so I have been driving her everyday to work - no problems yet! (knock on wood)

Re: tampa?

NPR is not my favorite for sure!! Just moved here, and already had my truck broke into in my driveway! I am afraid to start fixing up the IROC - probably won't until I get all my boxes unpacked and out of the garage so I can park her in there....
Stupid kids....they left my $1500 stereo system and $300 camera and took some dollar bills, meds, and Nintendo DS. Had to be punk kids - in and out in seconds.

Alarms are getting installed quickly!

I know that feeling. Had my Bird attempted several times and actually broken into once. Where did you move from? I'm not too crazy about being in that area when i'm there either. That's why I prefer to live out of town and in the boon docks.

Re: tampa?

Yeah, NPR is not my favorite place at all. Just moved here and already my truck has been broken into. Must have been punk kids, they took dollar bills, passed up the quarters; took Nintendo DS, passed up the $300 camera; took meds, passed up the c.d.s and $1500 stereo system. Can't wait to get the garage unpacked so I can start putting the IROC in there. Afraid to start fixing her up, just to get it trashed.

Alarms are getting installed quickly!

Just tinted the windows on the IROC today - she looks much better!! I am ready for the drive down south - 2 weeks!! Just post the meeting place and time, I'm there!

Unless you had a good reason to leave the boonies...I would have stayed there. I HATE the inner city and the people in it.(some of them anyway) for that reason especially.

I am feeling you on that one!!! I still own it, but.....can't live there.

I told myself when I moved there that I would NEVER live in a subdivision or city again. Sometimes you can't control it....

I feel your pain dakotaram, I live in holiday, and one day while at work in tampon strings I had my tool box in my backseat from doing a little side job the day before, my car got broken into and they took my tools and cell phone, passed up my 30gb mp3 player and the amp behind my backseat... now that I have a new-better paying job an alarm is going in ASAP!

Indeed. The weather really kept people from taking their cars out. That wasn't even 1/4 of what usually shows up. Maybe next month.

Re: tampa?

Hello, newest "Tampa girl" to arrive Technically in Seminole (Pinellas County) however. I didn't see an Intro or New Member forum, so posting here.

My Camaro biography

I had a 92 RS from '98-'00. It was the Polo Green/Gold Stripe Heritage Edition. I could kick myself for getting rid of it, but I lived in Pittsburgh and it was impossible to get around in, plus it needed some minor body work and some mechanical work and I was broke. So, I traded it in at the time for an '00 Ford Escort (I know, shoot me). Fast forward, I'm in Florida now...I had
a good paying job and am in a 39 month lease on an '08 Ford Escape with 11 payments left. I decided I am in a good spot where I can sell that and get out early hopefully without losing too much money. I got my newest 92 RS for $3k. It is all white, in excellent condition inside and out, original with 145k miles, however, it broke down the other day (suspected fuel pump issue). Anyways, I am happy to have my Camaro back, although a little bummed about losing all my luxury features in the Escape, but I won't have anymore car payments. Yippee. So, I'm looking forward to getting the new Camaro running right, spiffed up and shown off a bit!

If you're curious, here's a list of what I need/want for it:

  • Turn signal/cruise switch needs replaced (already have part)
  • Hood shocks (starting to go)
  • Hood release (2 man operation right now)
  • Steering Wheel (horn near impossible to honk)
  • Visors (don't have any now)
  • Fabric fix on driver's seat
  • Fix or replace middle console (crack in cover)
  • Speakers, nothing crazy
  • New stereo with Sirius radio
  • Extra cup holders/storage (I have nowhere to put my crap!!!)
  • 1 to 3, 12v power outlet adapter
  • 12v interior fan (the AC doesn't blow hard enough for me)
  • Compass (in case of GPS failure )
  • Replace headlights (could be brighter)

Down the road...

  • Auto Lock for brake pedal
  • Window tint
  • Blue Vinyl Heritage Striping
  • Replace or re-paint door handles
  • Replace rubbers on front window pillars
  • Replace door rubbers for windows

From another Tampa Girl, welcome! Post up some pics some time. Crutchfield is a great place to find vehicle specific speakers and stereos, RockAuto, A1 Auto, and Hawks all carry parts for our third gens, there is also a guy (Cam91rs1) in New Port Richey that contently parts out third gens.

Yes, I am also glad we made the drive out. It was not too bad for our first experience, and would have liked to see more cars, but I can understand why there weren't more.

It was great to meet other thirdgenners and talk "shop" and get ideas. Count us in for the next one!

Also, dont' know if anyone is aware, but October 2nd is the All GM car show in Ocala, FL. Myself and Charlie31603(Adam) plan on going as well as the local F-Body Inc. club here in Tampa. Should be huge being they gave 500 free registration passes to those who mailed them a form. I'll provide a link soon. I think you only have to go to the National Parts Depot website and go to Event Info.

Hello and thanks for the welcome and links! Just found out car needs fuel pump and fuel filter. Luckily I know someone who will do it for cheap.

I've got some photos in my album now...check them out.

Thank you, yes the car is unbelievably clean for the mileage. I believe it was garage kept. He let it go for a steal. I'm anxious to get it in tip-top shape for any future meets

I grew up in Seminole, and am a newbie "Tampa Girl" to the forum too. I have found this site very informative and the people on here (and locally) are awesome. Welcome aboard.

Awesome! I look forward to meeting other female 3rd gen enthusiasts, since I thought I was the only one until I found this board. What a great resource!!

I am not a native to the area...been here almost 6 years, originally from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Largo, Clearwater, and now Seminole. My neighborhood is really nice and quiet. Love it in Florida, although this rainy weather gives me sinus headaches but it's better than freezing most of the year up north!

Not that it matters much if I go...but I can't make the 11th. I will be racing in a soap box derby race for work. (DO NOT LAUGH) I just happen to be the lightest person at work....

Re: tampa?

Of course it matters. Goodluck on your race, Mijan, should be fun.

Mike, that's unfortunate. But you should love the weather(minus winter) up there. Maybe we'll see you at the annual gathering in Atlanta. Now you've heard it from 2 mouths...it is THE event to attend.

Plant City the 18th it is then. Remember chairs and cameras.

Here is the link to the All GM show on Oct. 2nd.

Finally made it to the area huh? Just missed this weekend, some of us went up to Ocala for the All GM Show. Decent turnout. Nothing really planned right now.

Ok... I did see a white 87 to 89 White Formula there

(so it is 3rd Gen related!

If you live in Tampa Bay, did you know that the "DuPont Registries" are located off of Ulmerton Road in St. Pete? They have a "Cars and Coffee" every 3rd Saturday 7 am to 9 am.... It's the best "car show" I've been to... Truly amazing cars....
