F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
We are just a few months away and wanted to see who all was planning on going. It is again at the Marriot in Atlanta during the Memorial Day weekend. Registration for the rooms and show have not been posted. The theme is a r.e.d.n.e.c.k. hoe down theme.. (wtf?)
Last year there was a great number of thirdgens and a large group under the 3GO banner. I would like to see a bigger group of thirdgens. If you have never been to the Gathering here in Atlanta and want more information you can search here on the forum and facebook.

This was a fun event last year, but I'm not sure I'll go this year. Miles on the car and $$$...

You know I'm in... I'd like to head up Thursday evening like I did last year. It makes for a full day of activities on Friday after a full night rest.

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
We are hoping to be at G-16. We will be there if I can get someone to cover for me at work. Darn pesky work, it always gets in the way of my play time... Amanda (the 86WS6) will be very disapointed if she does not get her one weekend a year in the sun. She has been sleeping all winter in her trailer, except for her weekly start-up. About 100 more miles on the odometer than last year, so nothing much has changed. Another 90 miles or so, and she will turn 30K. We may buy her a birthday cake and wear stupid hats. Amanda is bored and is ready to go to Atlanta. She wants hang out with some younger folks, instead of us old farts. She is ready for some real fun at a real cool event. Tony, I wonder about that R.E.D.N.E.C.K theme also??? You pulled off the Pirate thing really well. We can all probably pull off the R.E.D.N.E.C.K. thing. I just hope nobody shows up with overalls, a big belly, and no shirt! Than I will be saying WTF!I should know about the time off from work for sure in a few weeks.Come on Spring and G-16!

hey, since we are doing a R.E.D.N.E.C.K. theme, does that mean that we can roast a pig in the parking lot?

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
You have to work on a Holiday weekend? That blows. Are you Active Duty, or reserve/guard? I've never had to work Memorial day weekend since I've been in the Army except when I was deployed. I'm actually taking a week of leave like I did last year, to give me time to prep and get the car completely ready to rock so I can take my time getting there and enjoy the drive, instead of rushing and worrying about something breaking.

I have been giving this some thought. I would like a good appearence without being offensive or repetitive. So far I was thinking "early style", like bales of hay, a makeshift still, and an old Ga. flag..wearing overalls and straw hats..
I do have a secret idea I will reveal when saturday gets here..
any other ideas?

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
Im booked and registered. Im going to try to stay through the awards ceremony Sunday night. It depends on work. Since I had fixed the clutch, converted to tpi and a few other fixes and improvments, Im planning on driving all the way. However if gas doesnt get any cheaper, Ill be towing it there. The family wants to go again and they have a good time as well.
Kevin, we need to plan a leave time from our area.

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
I was planning to be there, in a 3rd gen - an '89 Camaro no less.
A few kinks have happened since last May,
2 days before christmas my shop was robbed.
1 longblock and 1 shortblock 350 engine(s),
polished iroc rims, and some other items were taken.
One of the engines was destined for the Camaro.
I had spent time and resources focused on the Camaro,
and there is too much work to be done on the Formula
to have it completed by the end of May.
My 4th gen requires some repairs, as a 19 year old car will.
An Optispark unit is just one on the list. (Nothing inexpensive)
Hopefully the rest of the year will be less problematic.
The Camaro is still the first in the list to get running.
It was bought with a siezed 383.
It was originally a 5.0 / 5 spd. manual and it will be again, without the TBI.
Finally a f-body that will not require premium gas!
It should be running a month or so after G16.
With no more unforseen complications. (fingers crossed)
I enjoyed meeting all who attended last year
You all enjoy this year, hope to see you in May 2013.
I hope everyone makes there and back home safe and without any problems.

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
Sorry to be so long making a decision to attend. We will be arriving on Thursday, leaving on Monday.
.
Betty cousion's wedding is in Newnan on Saturday, and Betty wants to spend some time at her sister's home in Carrollton. We will stop and register at the hotel Thursday AM and drop Amanda's trailer in the parking lot. I will drive Betty down to Carrollton, and be back at the hotel by Thursday afternoon. I will go and pick up Betty on Sunday, so I will be on my own from Thursday to Sunday. Betty says that I am too old and broken down to get into any trouble while on my own. She is probably right...
I am bringing the 12 x 20 white canopy again, and we should be set up similiar to last year. Do we want a banner? G-16 should be a blast!

This paragraph is very difficult to interpret. If you are asking where the event is taking place, it will be May 25-27 in Atlanta, Ga. An internet search for fbodygathering.com is where I would start. As for what I think are technical questions, I would post your questions under the correct categories located elsewhere on this site.

I'm bringing the Truck and an Enclosed this year... Not taking chances again, and I will be able to load a lot more tools and cleaning supplies. I also scored one of those Red Bull refrigerators. You know the kind that looks like a huge Red Bull can. so I gotta remember to bring some extension cords.

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
Sounds Great! Tony is there a chance that we will give the Rev-Zone some compitition this year for best display? If so, we have some work to do... You are welcome to set up anything you want at my canopy, hang flags off of it like last year, or what ever you choose. It's a little bit of work to assemble, but provides a nice large open space. I thought about bringing the satelite and tripod (an old Dish 500) that we use on the RV so we could maybe catch a race or something, however there is no 120 volt power anywhere near were we park. I'll get the banner and bring the canopy, a couple of folding camp tables, and a few chairs. If there is anything else that you want me to bring let me know. My trailer is 24 feet long, and the car takes 18 feet of it, so I have some spare room to haul stuff. Also, if anyone has mechanical problems let me know. I can't fix much, but I can use Amanda's trailer and the old F-350 and haul your car back to the gathering.

Welcome back! The more thirdgen's and thirdgen owners the better. Register your club affiliation as Thirdgen.org. That's one beautiful Camaro you have built.

Thanks 86. Trying to think what I could bring for the red-neck theme, other than myself. Maybe I could stick a Z28 emblem on the bass boat and bring it LOL. Fishing in the parking lot?

Re: F-body Gathering G-16 May 2012
Hi Tony, I have not heard anything either. I will e-mail Chad and see if what he and Andy are thinking about where to park us Turdgen Folks, oops, sorry I meant Thirdgen Folks. They usually wait until close to the time as possible, so that the parking map will be as accurate as possible. When I arrived last year Chad came over and reset the parking map on the spot, so that we had room for the my 12 x 20 canopy. The whole thing is sort of loose and flexable, which is one of the aspects that makes the gathering so much fun. Of course it may be Fran and Sherry that are really driving the FBodyGathering train... Charles

Bring your bass boat. We can tow it around the parking lot with my F-350 and take turns casting and reeling from the boat. Maybe drag some plastic fish around the parking lot? I would offer to bring my bass rig, however there is no way to double tow the boat behind Amanda's trailer.

LOL 86. After watching too much youtube at work, we've been playing with gas blowers and work stools and desk chairs on wheels. Maybe drag a creeper with your 350! Better bring a helmet, and a video camera.

I sent a PM to Chad on the FbodyGathering site. He has not answered yet, probably busy over the weekend. I will post the info here when he PM's back.
