is this firebird worth it??

I wasnt sure where to post this, so i went here... but anyways to start off I am new here and dont have a third gen..... yet. I currently own a 86 chevy square body truck but want a third gen. I have a senior project for school, and they have allowed me to work on a car for it. I have been wanting a third gen anyway and i decided it would be fun to get one, fix it up, and knock out a project for school. So i found this 87 formula 350 on craigslist...

http://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/3192149432.html

seems to have a non stock solid 350 with old school simplicity, and a solid body/paint.
Any thoughts? does it seem to be worth it? anything to check out when i go look at it? I am very serious about getting this car unless it is just not worth it. But i WILL be getting a third gen firebird

Don't care for the 4BBL carb or the aftermarket wheels, doesn't look like the original paint or hood to me ether. Looks like the rear wing has been replaced but not painted. But if it's rust free and running I'd say that's worth it.

how streetable would the 2800 stall be? i like the red car better because it is fast, looks better, has a very nice interior(even though you cant see the other one), the white one appears to have damage in the rear, and is 1hr 30 away vs 4hrs... and i dont like t tops

It is your money, my advice would be to check carefully for rust. OH and be careful, you need to get use to the car before driving it to hard.

Re: is this firebird worth it??

3rd gen are the sh__!!!! but more fun when YOU build it than just driving someone elses toy.
look at my car and next bird i may get....{which is a better deal}
check all before you buy....if it has a monster under hood look for frame mods....3rd gens are fast but if you make them faster YOU MUST make them stronger . better brakes sub connectors suspen. etc.
what ever you get i will and all other 3rd gen ers will help you enjoy it.if you not have fun then it wasnt worth it.

3rd gens are for fun.....

i agree completely that it is more fun to build! but finding a car for 1800 with 7k already put in?? just sounds like a good starting point for me! with a very limited budget this is a huge help, hopefully in the next week ill get the chance to check one or both of them out
