GTA4ME question for ya

I was reading your sig. and I think your car may be even more rare...GTA's came stock with the 350 5.7ltr unless ordered with the 305.... I don't know about you but how many people actually wanted the 305 over the 350 and when it was a stock option...It cost you more money to have the 305 ! So I would check those numbers again on your notchback rarity....
Just a random thought.. Beau

I agree with you to a point, most people would want to keep the stock motor, provided they wanted to keep the auto trans. The 350 produced too much tq. and so if you wanted a 5 speed you had to go 305. Still rare, but not because it was ordered as an engine change only, but rather because the purchaser wanted the 5 spd.

Yeah, I remember that much, but I wonder how many are like that. Everyone I have talked to has a 350.

Here it is, in 1988. This is for all Trans Ams produced that year. Only 624 Notchbacks, 809 w/3.45 rear axle, 2852 w/5.0, 809 w/5-speed. So it looks like to me every 5-speed produced in 88 has a 3.45 rear axle ratio. There were only 9765 Trans Ams produced in 88 and 2852 were 5.0's. So my car is rare, but not that rare, someone else must have one just like it. Here is the link I used.

Ok I got so excited I forgot to mention about the 5 speed....My point was .....if there are 624 notchback GTA's, how many of that 624 are 305ci 5 speeds...!????Got to be a low number wouldnt ya think?624 out of 9765 is already rare imo...

Well if we just use some basic straight line communitive properties of mathematics we can assume the following:

If ther were 9765 Trans Am's built and 624 of them were notchbacks then we can say that only 6.4 % had notchbacks.

If ther were 9765 Trans Am's built and 809 of them were
5 speeds then we can say that 8.3% were 5 speeds with 3.45 rearend.

WE can then multiply the percentages and come with a figure of .0053%. Which would be less than one of every 100 cars built.

If there were 9765 Trans Ams built then 517 of them would have that combo. That would but them rarer than a B4C!!!!!

There are probably a lot of holes in my math theory. But it may have some accruacy to it.

OOPS!!!

Just redid my figures. That would be less than 1 of every 1,000 produced for the year. Which would mean about 51 cars built with that combo. Not 517.

That would be one extremely rare bird!!!!!!

That would be awesome if that were true. I'm still checking to confirm all the info right now. I love my car!!!

It's probably a 6-7 with just over 87,000 miles.
