goo! i need help!!

im installing the diff i bought and im having some problems....
i actually have the dfiff in and bolted up, BUT i cant get the darn drum off one side of it!!!! can you believe it???? im getting stuck on a stupid little non mechanical mishap!!!! i have broken 2 hammers so far trying to hit it on both sides. i have tried loosening the adjuster, and it did nothing, i tried putting the lugs on a couple threads and tapping them, i tried to break the adjusters out (i have all new drum parts) i tried wd40, i tried brake parts cleaner, pretty much the only thing i havent tried is heating it up with a torch (i thought it would make the shoe expand and make it harder to get off) and taking a grinder to it. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I have to work tomorrow morning!!!!! i dont have use of my car!!!!! AAAAAAHHHHHHHH

what you need to do is het the drum on the outside with a hammer that has some *****. you need to hit the f'er as hard as you can right on the end just keep hitting it tell it comes lose thats what i do at work and it works every time the problem is that the drum is stock on the axle so give that a try and see what happens.

p.s. give it hell

1st and orange grove area. its up at my parents house. but i think the drum is actually held up on the axle hub. i was looking for my torch last night to try and heat the drum up to wiggle it off. but i havent been outside yet to look again. that and i need like mayber a 22-24mm wrench to get the brake cylinders off this axle to put on the ones from my axle. well you can give me a call if you want to help me out. i'll be here all day trying to get it to work. give me a call at 991-7668 if you want to stop by! thanks

The drivers side adjuster is left hand threaded. Ask me how I know. I should show you the scored drum and the shoe that was down to rivets on the Drivers Side of my 87.

Cut the heads off the two spring pins (in the back at 4:00 and 8:00 if you're facing the drum like a clock) and see if that does it.

I was able to use a puller to get the drum far away from things and backed off the adjuster. Thank goodness for good (vice grip) pliers.

I just did alum. drums, kevlar shoes and larger wheel cylinders.

I agree 100% with you. (But I had to use the parts since they are paid for and they will work damn well. )
