I'm gonna be at SW the 23rd with the 95Z28. They are having test and tune at night. Gonna be at the fair all day prior to that. Makes for a long day but we need to run the car again. Fixed the problem with the car retarding the timing. Motor in the 95 is a 96LT1. Has the 96 KS instead of the 95. Caused a lot of problems. Can't wait to see it run mid 13's...

I'd love to run my firebird at Firebird Raceway, but I'm still awaiting a transmission transplant. Probably going to be mid November for me.

The original plan was to go to the track after the fair. Then I found out that both tracks had stuff going on the 23rd. Found out that SW's was a morning event and that the track would be open at night for T&T. I had requested Friday off from work because of it and was going down but now I can go after the fair. If something changes I'll post here.

If we get enough interest sure I'll stick it, just hope I don't get schedualed that night! Probly won't be running my car seeing as how I still need to replace the water pump, but I'll come hang out!

Well, I have a few issues with the 95Z28 that will hopefully be resolved before Friday. I had to have the PCM sent out for repair cuz I erased some of it with my tuning equipment by accident and am having it tuned at the same time. Then there is the leaking heater hose. I also have to change the knock sensor because the 95Z28 actually has a 96 motor which uses a different sensor. Thats why it was retarding the timing on me. Hopefully it will all be done for the races.

So far so good. Looks like Camaropimp and I will be there. I ordered a few parts this morning from GM for the leaking heater hose and they should be here by 10am tomorrow. Also, the PCM should be here today sometime. Will have to change the hose, PCM, knock sensor and add Dexcool. We should be done well before 3pm. I have to do a little datalogging first to check and make sure it is running right. Otherwise we will have to swap knock sensors and PCM's again before leaving. As far as the 84 goes, well, let's just say it's seen better days. To bring it down there would be risky at best. It's a good local daily driver but not for long trips to Phoenix. The 85 is down for the cam change, so I won't be bringing it either. Look for us in the pits. White 95Z28 with black t/tops and black mirrors. The Blazer should be there as well with all the tools and slicks. I will be wearing my MSD ignition hat with the patriotic flames. I will be looking for the thirdgens upon arrival. Let's try and pit close to each other.

Can we get a last minute head count?

CaptPicardsZ28
Camaropimp...who else?

I'll be there for sure, along with my g/f. Bringing my camcorder too Don't know where we are going to meet, and as far as pitting near each other the "pit" area is just one huge parking lot so that won't be a problem. If anyone wants to, you can call me and I'll meet up with ya. I'm perdy sure out of all of us I'm the closest to Firebird, so if anyone needs someone to follow out there I'd be more than happy.

And if your looking for me, Gun-Metal Grey camaro with "OHHDOGG" on the licence plate

Well, in true S/W Region TGO fashion, a whopping 3 PEOPLE showed up!! Yes, thats right, myself, CaptPicardsZ28, and CamaroPimp (4 if you include my G/F). Anyways, it was still fun. Found out that the slicks CamaroPimp had on the Z were shot, so best it ran was a 15 flat. But hey, it was fun! Where was everybody?!

Made it home just fine Bruce...thanks for all the help. We had fun despite not getting the car to run high 13's like it's supposed to. Sorry about the slicks. Didn't know they were bad. When we get another set we can get together and you can make a pass or two with them. Thanks for showing up today. You and your girl are good people. Tired, going to bed. See you on the boards tomorrow.

Well, I got the headers in...BUT...the drivers side was hitting...I mean it's one of those things where you know it's gonna happen, but you hope in the back of your mind that when it comes down to it, it won't, but it did

I don't blame anyone, I actually expected it to happen... It was a lot of fun though, kinda funny seeing what my car looked like with slicks on it

SLP 1 3/4", way too big for my engine, but what the heck. Bruce, how'd you run with slicks on it?

He ran a 16.3 without slicks and a 16.7 with slicks. The slicks were bad and I wasn't aware of it. The 95Z28 seemed like it was "floating" down the track all night and we couldn't figure out why until Bruce took his car out with the slicks. He also got to take the 95Z28 out for two runs. Took some video too. I don't know how much he got but he did shoot some footage. We are still having issues with the 95. It should be running high 13's uncorrected and it's not. It may be now a combination of bad slicks and a clutch or tranny issue. Not sure. The timing is still retarding up to 5 degrees instead of the usual 25 as well. Had the PCM tuned, maybe it did something to heat up the fluids in the tranny or clutch. Shifted real hard into each gear. When we left and got on the highway, the Z wouldn't shift into gear and we had to pull off the highway. Thought we were stuck for sure. Bruce somehow got it to shift into gear and we went to Denny's and then went home. It was a long tiring ride home but we had a good time.

Yeah, those slicks were toast. It made the strangest almost floating sensation when even just barely moving. Thought it was the 95Z's front suspension till I tried em' on my car, and the same thing happened. If that Z28 had good slicks on it I could have easily pulled a low 14 if not better out of it. Tony, when do you think you'll be ready to try yours out at the track?

I'm reaaaaalllyyyyy itching to go man, you have no idea! Hehe, I still have to move over my steering column to clear the headers and if that doesn't solve the problem, I have to put in new enginer mounts which could be a bitch. I also *technically* need to get the exhaust welded up, but running around with open headers for a while should be fun. At the rate I'm going at now, I'd say I'll be ready around 2008, but for you guys, I'll try and hustle and get it done by the end of this week, school permitting!
