Ive seen a few posts about people getting similar messages about checks, here is what i got from kenethwheeler@graffiti.net im not sure what his user name is on the forums, ive only been in contact with him through email, below is our conversation about my car. Is there any way i can report this to anyone to possibly get this guy caught for other scams that he pulled? Im sure this is not the first time hes tried this.

Not sure if they can really do much though... Most of the IP's I've recorded were overseas. I've received about 30 of these over the past year while trying to sell my 300zx before and after the rebuild. It's pretty frustrating, but once you get through the first few lines of their , they're easy to spot.

When you post pics online in a forum and then they ask you for pics of the car so they can see it...then they offer you the highest price you'd ask + a buttload more for shipping .. and of course you're supposed to be the good samaritan and send them the balance of what's left over? Hello?!?!?!?!

does it matter. he could be gay in the sense that hes trying to rip people off. being the 21st century and all ***, gay and queer have taken alot of new meanings. this can be one of then, and may not be refering to his sexual preference.

I had the same thing happen and i got the check from the guy. He said he was in england and he had a contact in arizona and a transporter guy in Texas ??? LOL seemed fishy but i went along with the game cause i wanted to get a fake check for $8000 with my name on it $$ Its fake for sure so i pinned it up on my wall, after i called him out on that the check was fake i never heard back from him.

 

Haha.. I did the same with a check a guy "sent" from Japan(had a montana postmark too). Same scenario. The best part was when he replied to my online ad; I knew it was a scam; I replied with a price of almost 5 times what I was really asking. I received it too.

It's tacked up on the wall in my garage. Check is from "Bank of Tokyo" The best part is that the check is 100% in the ENGLISH language. I scanned it and sent it to a friend of my parents that works for the FBI. He basically told me that they get an average of 400 - 500 complaints PER WEEK of this nature.

That's alot of scammin going on.

the next one that propositions you, go along with it. Let them send you the check.. just for ***'s sake do not cash it otherwise you will be resposible for the balance.

 

As I do agree with your original title for the thread, I do still have to be a Mod. But yeah man, that really blows. If I had the cash I would totally take it off your hand, I could fix it up HELLA cheap now that I work for a performance aftermarket company

HEY! I drive a Ford now lol. Yeah I get SOO many of these scammers who like always try and make themselves sound sophisticated by talking "Dear Sir, I would like to acquire your fine automobile" and crap like that. Thats a good idea though to get the check and just hang it up. I'll do that next time.

 

lol, i got nothin against fords.. as long as its not an import, i guess i can let it slide... haha... my roommate has 2 ford trucks, and i like em both... i just hate rustangs... yuck. but yeah, i hate it even more when the scammer works on the opposite side... like how i bought a 1991 Chevrolet Camaro RS Convertible with 151,000 on it for $5K... cuz it had 300 HP and the chip was so advanced it couldnt pass smog with it in!!! not to mention it had a blown head gasket and destroyed piston rings...
