Does anyone near Kingman have a Steering Column???

My steering column isn't just loose, the bearings are shot too, and any big bump knocks the ignition switch out of whack!

I'd almost say I'd prefer a non-tilt column, but any solid column will do...
I don't have alot of $$$

Can someone help a guy out!

Pick a part on Rt. 66 has a few third gens to choose from. Not sure what they charge for one.

Would have been a good choice, but someone beat me to it!
All he has left is one Berlinetta column.

Thanks!

Maybe Kingman Kar. I'm just not in the shape to crawl around wrecks these days - bad back. I was hoping someone had an extra...

However, how about the junk yard out in Mohave Valley?

Hope this helps,

He's the guy who told me they only had one column, and it was for a Berlinetta. I know that place is his personal parts source also!

If the reason for the looseness is the tilt-column, I can help, having went through that nightmare on my IROC. I have the special tools and an illustrated walk-through. Too bad GM didn't lock-tight those four screws in the column...

I've definately been through that ordeal - a few times! Lost my reverse torx socket though...

However, in this case, the upper column is tore up. the bearings are shot, and the housing is hollowed out.

Thank you though!

...and yes, a little lock-tite on GM's part would have saved alot of headaches!

Last I checked at pick-a-part, there were a lot of thirdgens with still mostly complete interiors. They had two hollowed out IROC's, but quite a few usable birds and base model camaros. I don't remember ever seeing them have a berlinetta. Good luck on the search.

...He didn't have the car anymore, just the column, and some assorted parts...

However, I did find a real good on on ebay, $35.00 + $20.00 shipping. Non-tilt, but in excellent shape, with wheel!

I think I did all right! I won't really miss tilt wheel.

Thanks guys for all your help and responses!

When you have the time, I'd like to shoot photos of everything behind the removed dash of your Camaro. Since the area is open, I can visually document the parts for future reference. Can be your place or mine.
