Help me cure this LO3 syndrome!

Ok guys ive been experiencing this problem for a while. i have a 91 camaro lo3 5 speed. kinda modded. with 3 inch exaust and headers. bored 30 over. open element. but the problem is at light throttle going about 1500-2500 rpms in first, it chuggs and surges for like a second like there is no fuel going to the tbi and it makes this popping sound and raise rpm back again and sometime does it again. and it will happen at any gear. even if im cruising at 70 mph and speed up to 80 mph in 5th, it will do this surge chugging popping syndrome. its bugging.. people on the road think i dont know how to drive because it feels like the first day i drove a stick, that back and forth jerk when shifting gears. and it feels like theres no horsepower on the engine.. ive done some datalogging but everytime i do datalogg i dont experience the problem. it doesnt happen all the times.. theres days it runs like a champ. it can be hot or cold when i experience this problem.. i can attach a recent data log. yea i notice i run rich and lean.. and the last time i data logged today it had lots of spark counts. and i know for a fact that i have an exhaust leak on the driver side header. i would like to solve this and ive read alot of people are have the same problem with no luck. i know there are lots of smart guys on this board.. let cure this syndrome fast.

Im guessing here so take it as that. Have you ever replaced the fuel pump? Do you have any idea if the tank was getting low when this happened? Maybe the fuel pump is having some issues. Other than that I would check the fuel filter. A data log with the problem happening would definatly show wether or not the timing is off or if its fuel related.

Re: Help me cure this LO3 syndrome!

iv had more than a quarter tank on it and it will do it.. ive ran the car almost to the e empty so i know my fuel gauge is some what ok beside jumping up and down. hehe the only problem with datalogging it is it never happens while im logging it. ive replaced the fuel filter like 4-6k miles ago. but ill go ahead and replace it... the fuel pump hmm. it may be that its going south but it doesnt happen all the times.. its playing with. lol.

Get that exhaust leak fixed. If it's bad air can get sucked in the exhaust stream. The O2 sensor sees the extra oxygen, thinks you're lean and adds fuel. How are your BLM's in the area that you feel the surging in?

Re: Help me cure this LO3 syndrome!

my blms are pretty good.. there around 128.. my fuel is within 5%.. so its not that off.. i fix the exhaust leak and it seems to be running better.. ts just on lower rpms.. and the rattling noise coming from the engine.. its worst when i put it on 2nd gear and take off . it gets real loud and the car barelly moves unless i give around 2500 rpm to move.. but im thinking right now its a timing issue..
