Will this cam work on an L03?

I might stick an L03 in my boat from a '91 Firebird. This cam is out of a Vortec 5.0 marine engine.

Specs are:

PN 431-811658
intake / exhaust duration @ 0.05 197/207
lift .430/.450
lobe centers 106atdc/112btdc lCL 109

I'm curious if the LO3 heads can do .450 lift without machining the spring pockets and changing springs.

In the caprice it was. In the F- body cars it was up around 460. Even though ive heard it works fine I know it has to be borderline on those heads. I think your cam choice should be great for this lil powerplant though. Much better than the "peanut cam" I have to endure until I get my 350 built.

Interesting. So maybe just replace the springs.

I've got a few 350 roller motors in the shop but I don't want to waste one on the boat if I don't have to.

Oh yeah, and the L03 is a bulletproof reliable lil engine with good torque. When I pull mine I may re-ring and re-seal it, add a mild cam like yours and put it in a lil beat around S10 truck or something. I plan to drop a 350 in my car after hunting season and my L03 w/90k miles runs so good I may have to find some use for it. Would be an excellent lil truck engine.
