Tony's Road Racing project
Hey guys, sorry I've been a bit of a ghost lately, but I've been wanting to road race for a while now and have been working hard to get the car setup to be safe and fairly fun as well. Anyhoo, here's the latest:

Re: Tony's Road Racing project
Haha it's not any faster in a straight line
Have you been racing down at SIR? How's the car doing down there?
----------
I'll try and get a pic up, but it's not bad at all. I have a 4thgen rear end and I'm pretty sure that the stock wheels stuck out more than the 315's. If you run a 325 or 335 tire I'm sure it'd be an eyesore though.

Re: Tony's Road Racing project
Isn't Firebird lower in altitude? All I know is that the last time I took the Iroc to SIR, their track prep was terrible and I almost put it into the wall once. I could literally (and I have the video to prove it) hook up better on the street than at that track.

Firebird's around the 1200-1500 ft range I think. The reasons that I've heard for SIR being a better track were 1) better track prep (not the case I guess!) and 2) a little bit cooler air. I guess I'll have to hike down there and check it out myself one of these days!

Re: Tony's Road Racing project
Yeah. The air would be a bit cooler here, SIR is at 3075 feet.
Here's the main reasons the track is slippery:
Ricers driving through the waterbox, dragging water up to the starting line.
People with pickup trucks that dump a ton of dirt at the line when they barely chirp the tires.
They prep the track once at around 4pm when tech opens, and that's usually it.
You can hook better on Old Vail Road, except there's so many housing developments around here you can't run there anymore.

. We have the same FWD SUPER BURNOUT DRAG WATER TO THE LINE EXTRAVAGANZA!!! here which is always comical to watch because half the time they can't spin the tires, but it definitely ticks me off as well. Haven't seen the truck thing, that's hilarious though! We get a lot of Lightning guys, but I think I carry dirtier stuff in my Camaro than they do

Re: Tony's Road Racing project
well i went to SIR and the altitude sucks here, my best with no traction still....
... 2.408 60' was a 14.7@98.6mph. my best at Speedworld with i feel less power and crappier tires was a 2.30 60' with a 14.5@99mph. so hopefully next time i go to speedworld i'll run a 100mph. Arizona blows. i need tires and gear bad.

Re: Tony's Road Racing project
What mods do you have other than your cam/intake?
I used to run 14.2's @ around 99 all day long at SIR with full exhaust, HSR and the bottle off. I've never been into the longblock. 2.1 60 foots iirc.
TPI torque FTW!

Re: Tony's Road Racing project
mods in sig, the DA was 4900ft. so i dunno im not goin back unless i have slicks its pointless, my 235's are worthless because on the 1-2 shift i spin bad, and on the 2-3 shift i spin a little so radials are needed. my 2.4 was me goin sideways, this car will just not hook.
