My dash looked like burnt bacon when I started too.... I will have more pics of the rest of the interior soon... Notice the embossed GTA's in the dash..... LOVE IT>>> and I did the same in the back....in the rear deck too
All work done at Galvan's Custom Auto Uphostery..... Thats where I am working .....
And yes its Faux Croc just because of it being a convertible the sun would destroy the real stuff too quickly....

I've been wanting to wrap my IROC's pad in black suede leather with a double stitch along the leading edge. Only problems I've run into are the speaker grilles and finding someone confident enough to do the stitch. you might remember me as "Elite automotive" I sell LS engines and misc. GM parts....

Re: What up PPL????
you mean a french stitch..... I was going to do that on mine in purple but I put purple stiching in the visors and I could barely see it so I decided not to do it on the dash but we could certainly do that for you.... And suede would have been sick I was going to do the purple in suede but the sun would just destroy it... vinyl is best for color and longivity.... most of the dash has to be stripped down to the metal backing then foamed back up..... Its alot of work but looks sick as you can see I will post a pic of the second layer of foam.... There are three layers total with sanding each layer for uniformity....

Re: What up PPL????
Wow! Thats a little more work than I was thinking... I think its called a double-stitch. (Its what porsche calls it in their sales brocures, but I may be mis-understanding the use of the term...) It's where you have a folded seam and then there is a straight row on either side of the seam, of thread. Porsche, ferrari, Rolls royce lambroghini and bently all use it on the seams of their dash coverings. Yeah, suede does not hold up too well in direct sunlight, I know. The iroc spends most of it's time under a car cover (Averages 1,000 miles a year, at most.) so I wouldnt be too worried about that. Why strip it so much? I could understand if it has a lot of cracks, and such, but mine only has a few. Not questioning you on your decisions, just want to understand why....

ok ok I know what you mean thats actually commonly referred to as top stitch... a french stitch is with an additional stitch on both sides of the seem... They look sick as hell...
And as far as why strip it so much? well to put it simply its because the once squishy foam that was under our molded vinyl its now all dried out and crumbling fast if you dont strip it in a few more years as the unremoved vinyl dries more it will start to lift and curl and then you will have to do it all over again.... But you could just cover whats there... plus the material will stick better to foam than vinyl also and if you reach up and give my dash a grip you wont here the old vinyl cracking underneath....

Re: What up PPL????
Yeah the problem with those from what I hear they dont use a metal pan they use platic or something like that... I heard they are not very good.
By the way we could have made you one like mine for a hundred and 60 more than what you paid.... and if you wanted leather or suede it would have been a hundred more... so either 5 or 600 hundred depending on materials... And you could have picked the theme... solid or a 2 tone like mine.... Just sayin... Maybe when your ready you'll hit me up

Re: What up PPL????
I will. I already have the suede... (Got 6 yards of it.) Verdone upholstery was going to do it for me several years ago,as long as I mentioned their name, but then they got a little worried (the manager said.) about doing the stitch and didnt want to look bad. (That was when it was in the '90 RS.)

Re: What up PPL????
Well getting that line perfect is harder than jewel I'm not gonna lie... But we can do it..but if the suede you have if that super thin crap the glue will soak thru and it won't work... But when your ready let me know... If we can use your suede the cost will be less obviously
