$$$ on my Bird
Well, got the cost to do the work on my Firebird. Going to be $3600 for putting a right quarter panel, left quarter skin and painting it Viper Red with silver along the bottom.
That doesn't include any parts. I think I'm looking at about $4500 - $4700 to get everything done with all the parts when it is said and done. Looks like I gotta start gathering things now and figure out the rest when the time comes to get it in to the guy that is going to do the work. I think it is a good deal, considering the type of work this guy does. Now everything will be straight and looking so much better and finally be done with the exterior. Still planning the interior. Going to take some time before it's done. Wish me luck!

Re: $$$ on my Bird
Hey Chris, I am still not totally convinced you should not just get a new clean straight body. I in NM right now and just ran into this car which I think would be a great start and cost you less in the long run. http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/cto/2414153699.html
I was also talking to my brother about your car and he wants me to send him some pics of the quarter and undercarriage of the car. As I mentioned he owns a body shop and is a very experienced frame expert. He suggested putting the car up on a frame rack and taking detailed measurements before starting anywork. He was worried that the quarter may have been installed that way because of larger damage hiding in the unibody. I may be able to get him out here in a few months and he was willing to also look at the car for you.
I really want you to have a sucessfull project and I know it sucks to pull the motor again (which I would be more then willing to help with) but after talking to my brother about your car I think you should still think about it a little more.
Thanks Brian

Not against starting with a straight body, but it's finding that straight body. I really think the guy that did the quarter panel to begin with was a beginner and possibly high. I met the guy back then and he didn't seem all that bright to begin with. That link you sent me is no good. At this point, I think I'll give a look for one, but don't want to take too long doing so due to the possibility of the gm quarter panels availability. I also want a car that isn't caked with bondo either.

Yeh, I understand. The link I sent was a really clean 92 Formula 5-speed for $2300 bucks. Would have made a great swap car but it sold really fast. I will keep an eye out for you. They are out there but just can be a little tricky to find.
