Az guys, question about title-ing a lost title car.

Hi everyone,

I bought a camaro to use as a donor car for an LS swap. The day after I got it I had a TON of overtime scheduled and worked 16 straight. Somewhere in the middle of all that the title disappeared for it before I could get it put in my name. I contacted the owner and he refused to get me another, even after I offered him $100!!! Basically he said too bad, it was my problem. Since I had a good title, I didint ask for a bill of sale either. I've never had this happen before, and noone I know has had to do anything like this either.I gotta get rid of it one way or another, and as far as I know cant do it without a title.

So I was wondering whats the easiest way to get this car titled???

Thanks!

Bonded abandoned title, 250 deposit and will cost ~75.00 when all is said and done.

Re: Az guys, question about title-ing a lost title car.

I had this problem with my RS when I first bought it. Paid 750.oo for a bonded title (They figure their fees based on a percentage of the vehicles value.) the place I went to is on the northeast corner of Missouri and Black canyon (East side of I-17.) they did most of the footwork. Arent you parting this car? Thought you were going to use the motor/trans for your 3rdgen...

I am using the motor/trans...and I had thought about parting or selling as a roller. But from what I understand I cant send it to scrap when I'm done without a title, and I dont see many people interested in a non-titled car.

Re: Az guys, question about title-ing a lost title car.

The only problem you might have, is when you do the bonded title they do a last owner search and if the guy you bought it from is not honest and say you didn't pay for the car. He will have first dibs, you will be out of the money. I sure hope it works out.
If you are using tranny and motor, don't worry about title. You haul it to the scrap yard.

So they dont need a title? The last car I had hauled off (an ole dodge shadow from high school) the guy needed the title. Also let me ask, scrap yard as in scrap metal or scrap yard as in junk yard? If your talking about a scrap metal yard do you know of one that will take it?

Type in Phx Az scrap metal, or srcap yard, there will be many that come up. Some even pay you to haul off. I know that's the way it is here in Tucson.

Don't get a bonded title for a scrap vehicle, get a sawsall instead

Cut it in a few pieces, no title needed...

yep! I agree with gwarren: Sawzall. You cant get a bonded title for a non-running vehicle anyways.

The guys is a jerk anyway. He could get the dupe title for $4 or a little more through Service Arizona.
I would have helped you in a heartbeat. It's just not that hard.

Re: Az guys, question about title-ing a lost title car.

I called a title place trying to get info, and they said since I've had it for a while, to try an abandoned vehicle title. Has anyone ever got one of these? how did it work out for you?

also since I got the recommendations, has anyone here parted a car and called scap to haul it off, if so did they ask for a title? I'm worried with it in all torn up they might not take it...

My bro in law had scrap come get a car that was gutted inside and they didnt ask for a title, but it was at his body shop so I can see it making sense that its stripped down and them not asking for one.

Re: Az guys, question about title-ing a lost title car.

I had a 85 with just a bill of sell
parted it out and had a little more then a shell
cut it up into enough parts that i could load it onto my trailer (4x6)
then took it to a scrap yard and had them weigh it

there is a place that will take a whole car minus the gas tank right next to ecology with no title just gotta take it across a scale

you could also find some one on craigslist that would take the car for free
