This will help in deciding how slow or fast and basically how much graphics will be on the website. I want to try and get some input now so that later after its all done a bunch of people dont complain about things being too slow, or not pretty enough. I'd rather not make too many changes after its done. So, please list the following items:

Computer type and speed
Connection speed
Screen resolution setting
Browser

Thanks!

I would suggest putting a minimum of graphics, and other slow loading stuff on the message board page. We can have the graphics on member profile pages, perhaps some photo album pages, etc. That way, when a member opens a page with photos, he/she knows it will take time to load on a modem. It is a pain waiting for all of the graphics to load continually on a message board. Pictures contained in someone's message is different, if I don't want to wait for them to load, I don't have to open them. If we get sponsorship, that would change things as well, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I agree with RUSS. Also make it viewable for net 4 and IE 5 users as alot of people don't upgrade when new s##t comes out) LIKE ME!!!!

Well, thats the whole reason I am asking about it. At least everyone is using 800x600 or better, I guess most of us have come out of the dark ages I'd prefer to do it for 1024x768, but it seems like theres alot of people still at 800 so... I'll set it up for that so nobody has to do the right-left scroll thing.
I have Netcrash 4.5 though I am going to upgrade that, and IE 5.5. I'm not doing anything complex, so I cant see any reason earlier versions of Netcrash and Internet Exploder wouldnt work. The graphics will be kept to a minimum I think, with just a background graphic probably that should load fairly quick, a couple banners that should be relatively small file size wise, so in all it shouldnt take all day for it to load up. I like this message board, but on slower computers with old browsers (like mine) the board loads slow and hangs while its setting up the page. Personally, I hate that. I'd rather have something with a quick refresh and less bells+whistles that we probably dont need.

Anyway, I will get something going that I think will work, and field complaints beyond that later

Sounds good. Once a web site is up and running, it can always be fine tuned.

Nick, we don't need you to post your connection speeds. We know when it comes to that ... you ARE the internet. Fast on the track and fast on the 'net. :hail:
