Gently down the stream,
Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily,
Life is but a dream (of banging 6 gears).

All I need to do is reinstall the console and hook up the speedometer, and the T56 swap is done.

Dwayne, try 1900. Remember, T56s have that .50 sixth gear.
Glad to hear Kevin, so you'll test it out this Sunday. Or will you have to break-in the clutch a little.

does anything bad happen if you drive it without the VSS/speedo connected?
I have everything but the speedo problem resolved. @ssholes at JagsThatRun haven't even shipped my speedo conversion crap and don't know when they will either. It'd be nice to have a car again instead of borrowing someones.

Yes James, the car stalls out every time I push in the clutch to come to a stop. The computer doesnt know the car is moving so it cant adjust the idle properly. Also you'll get an SES light for the inactive VSS.

But performance, you'll never see it. If you do, a Yugo will probably beat you
(not spreaking from experince), fifth will take you upto (IIRC) 160.
I think Nick only uses the first four gears of his T5. Supreme Member

for the people with OEM electric speedos it is an easier swap because they only have to worry about converting the signal to the signal their ECM (and OEM speedo use). But if I use an aftermarket speedo I have to worry about the signal the ECM gets as well as the signal the speedo uses. I don't think that the autometer elec. speedo uses the GM signal, but I do not know for sure. If the autometer speedo uses the GM signal life would be much easier because I would only have to worry about converting signal A to signal B. I do not think that the 165 ECM code I am using has the switch betwen the two signal inputs GM used unlike the 730 which does.

The T56 is in and finished, and the speedometer is working. I'm still playing with the chip settings to get it exact, but its close now. Now I have to relearn how to drive a stick.

The 7730 computer has signal converting capabilities in it, so I used that by trial-and-error and help from the DIY Prom board and the thirdgen email list.
