I got a compressor (that turned out to be a new one) from Thomas ***'s House of Camaro salvage yard. Do a search on here and you'll find his info, I dont have it handy. He's in SoCal and a great guy to deal with.
There isn't anything special you need to do to convert to 134a. Virtually all of the discount stores as well as any auto parts store carry kits. The secret is to use poly esther oil instead of the PAG oils that the factory puts in the new cars. The poly esther oil (poe) are much more forgiving of mixing with the mineral oil used with r12.
You know, Ive been having a problem with my pump!!! I just had the whole system replaced with new parts about a year ago, (blew the pump on the drive from Tucson to Austin, yeah it was hot in June man, I feel you SANCHEZ) ANyway, I had it converted to R134 at the same time. After about six months of limited use, when I turn it on now, it bears down on the motor really bad , not to mention the gut wrenching low hum it puts out when the pump actuates. This is only at idle or cruising around town though. It does okay on the highway. Any help???
