Found new headlight gears!....

Thanks to Red88GTA on the GTA board!

Corvette Central makes BRONZE replacement gears for the headlight motors. I'm waiting for a reply to confirm the gears are the same on the Corvettes and Firebirds. They should match, but I want to be sure.

This is just too cool.

Gahhh...I go through headlight gears like crazy. My alarm flashes the lights when I lock/unlock. I think the quick on/off/on/off really kills them! I plan on doing some rewiring to eliminate this problem, but bronze gears would be really nice to have anyway! Let us know. I have no idea if the vette gears are the same, but if I saw a picture I could probable tell since I've had mine apart so often.

They have pics on the Corvette Central web site. The '88 and up Corvette gear looks identical to my '88 Firebird gear.

They also supply new pieces to make the gear engage the drive arm. GM used cheap plastic stuff that eventually crumbles. I eneded up stuffing tooling leather into mine to repair them. I may just go ahead and order the bronze gears and confirm that way.
