3rd gen seats are the same as 4th gens...
Right?
I need the complete back part of the front seat that has the nylon netting attached on the back.
This is for an '89 GTA.
Dealer says that particular part no. has been discontinued but the 4th gen style seatback shells are still available under a different part no. I suspect the dealer is wrong about this because the seats look the same to me.
I thought the front seats between 3rd gen GTA's and 4th gen T/A's were EXACTLY the same except for headrests. Right?
Why is the dealer telling me the seats are different if they are indeed the same then?
Thanks.

Well, yes and no.
The 4th gen seats are a direct bolt-in for a 3rd gen, but the style of the seat is different. I don't think the back trim pieces from 4th gen seats will fit 3rd gen seats correctly.

Thanks Bret.
I don't know though. I've always thought the Firebird seats were the same except for different headrests.
I guess I'll have to wait until the PAP's around here (IE) get some 4th gens so I can compare the differences, if any, to mine.
That's another thing. Why don't any of the PAP's get any 4th gens? I've seen 3rd gens up to the '92MY in most yards but no 4th gens at all.
Don't they like to "bid" on them at the salvage auctions or something?

From the pictures I've seen the 4th gen rear seats indeed are a direct bolt-in. But they are a little shorter. This doesn't matter much in a coupe. But in a 'vert it leaves an ugly gap between the top of the seat and the tonneau cover. Lon
