College started...
Yes its that wonderful time of the year again...at least I dont have to deal with highschool on top of college anymore... Well I have heard of few of you are talented on the computer so I may need some of your help with my classes...Im taking:
*Cisco computer networking(1st semester, tried it once 2 years ago, got lost, cost too much, dropped it)
*A website building and design class(one begining class that covers some design elements and some HTML programming)
*and an AutoCAD class for arcitecture(but our final is going to be an AutoCAD drawing of anything we want, so I am going to try to do my car in AutoCAD, would that be too hard?)
As for the website class, the final project is to have our own website up and running at the end, but I dont know what I should do my site on...I was going to do it on my Uncle and our race team but I dont feel like wasting my time and effort on his lazy a$$!(long story!) and our other driver Rod Johnson already has a website with the new sponsor so....? I was thinking about doing one on my car but nothing special there and he wants a client-side website(which to my knowlage is a small HTML type site)
so any help or suggestion would be welcomed...
TIA
(why are my posts always so long!! Sorry about that!!)

Cool deal! As for AutoCAD (2002i), I do that professionally (well, Mechanical Desktop 6.0 (3D modeller) really). Trying to do your car on AutoCAD will be a waste. AutoCAD doesn't have the ability to support such a complex assembly structure. You could do the plans for an engine. The largest assembly I would attempt with AutoCAD would be the short block, a cylinder head, and the like. Beyond that CATIA or Pro-E would work better.
Good luck, and if you need help, I am an expert on it.

if you get real good you can do your car, the exterior in 3d with rotation. Not that hard for you college kids.

Yeah, my neighbor is taking some Cisco classes at San Jacinto college.
His teacher had him calculating subnet masks all wrong, and he was totally confused. I think I was at first too, but some day it just clicked and the rest is easy
It's sort of like multiplication tables. It gets easier when you memorize the combinations, but the foundation needs to be there.
I agree subnet masks are the hardest to master, and you need to pay attention 100% during those types of discussions. Ask as many questions as you can. Once you master subnet masks you can move on to inverse masks used on security access lists
That I guarantee will confuse you!
His instructor also let him make an ethernet cable wrong
BTW, I am a Network Engineer, so any q's send them my way

. As well as memorizing Active Directory. His instructor also let him make an ethernet cable wrong
That's not cool
Hey GPierce, Are you Cisco certified?? and if you are is it CCNA or CCNE???
To be honest, I never took any of the tests. One of my employees just passed CCNP, and he still asks me questions so.......
There is no CCNE, I'm sure you were thinking of CCNP.
I plan on being more of a management type, so the certs are not as important for me, but I do keep up with training, and conferences.

I would suggest a site based on whatever your passion is because then it will be alot easier to do and not just a pain in the a$$.
How about pro racing 3rd gens? There were alot of 3rd gen Camaros and Firebirds racing NHRA,IHRA (drag racing), SCCA, IMSA (roadracing) when the cars were being sold.
Or another kind of 3rd gen site because you have so much access to info through the club.

Brittney,
How about a web site for the SC3G? What are some of your other interests?
I'm an Art Director, so I can help you with any design questions you might have.

Cisco... heh... that reminds me I need to make an appointment to take the dang test...
Anyhow I got above a 90% on semesters 1-4 and am about to take the CCNA exam, so if you need any help e-mail me and I'll see if I can help you some.
Subnetting isn't too bad, the whole key to learn your powers of 2 backwards and forward.
I'm trying to get into Network Admin, but right now I'm just a Compaq Tech Support... LOL, I now handle providing support to compaq service centers... Previously I was front line support... Paid entertainment, LOL (people = dumb).

I don't know if this will help but I have two books on my computer on cisco, if you know how to use an ftp client use this info:
ip: 66.27.160.116
port: 502
login/password: third/gen
If you want to use ie go to this link (in order you save the files you will have to right click the files and choose "copy to folder" and begin "copying," it will work and it might take a while this is coming from my cable modem.)
ftp://third:gen@66.27.160.116:502/
For those who are interested I have some photoshop books on there, everything else is pretty much crap except for the non-technical and programming sections.
