hey guys im thinking of moving to SoCal soon (San Diego, Encinitas area) and im wondering about how my car will hold up against your emissions tests...i may end up garaging the camaro and building a car especially for california (maybe an older camaro/nova
) and im wondering what kinda engine work (if any) i can get away with and are there still emissions exempt cars like any car built before 72 doesnt have to go through emissions? thanks alot guys,
dave

Go to http://www.dmv.ca.gov/ and read the section on the left about bringing in a car to California. Basically, anything that doesnt look stock has to be 50-state legal.

Well... I think right now its pre-74 doesnt need smog check, but I saw something recently that they are going to start doing roadside tests. That would make anything post-65 a test victim. It might even take in more than that, but I think somewhere around 57 they cant test, there were no federal emissions guidelines or something like that.
Just assume you moved to ****-Cali, and you'll do fine.
