Ok how about this, can I move it to the rear of the car ala 4th gen style and still pass?

what happen...run out of room i nthe engine compartment. i think that as long as the smog equipment does the job it is supposed to it is legal.

Technically you are not suppose to alter the location of any smog equipment without and E.O.#.- That goes for removing or re directing. It has to be in the stock location by law.

Nah, want to move allt he stuff around to make it prettier, tired of looking at the damn cansister and all the hoses and what not, clean it all up, make it look nice, its just an eyesore imo.

That may be true, but I think the Firebirds had the canister mounted below the sheet metal shelf that it sits on in the Camaro. Also, I doubt if any smog tech will notice if a peice of smog equipment has been moved, as long as they can find it. When you think of the number of different cars with different equipment on them each year, the liklyhood of a tech remembering the exact location of each part on a 15-20 year old car is slim. He will have a list of what is required to be on the car, so it better all be there, however.

I totally agree. I was just giving the technocalities of the law. It takes one wannabe Governor Davis smog tech to ruin your day, but most won't care.
