Any places here in So. Cal that coats headers like Jet Hot?
I'd like to get a header I have coated, but don't want the down time and expense to send it all the way to Jet Hot.
I should be working on the 'ole GTA to get it back together running again. But that ain't gonna happen in this stinkin' 108+ degree weather we've been having here lately in the IE. Man, when in the heck is it gonna cool down for us?

Everything I have checked to date is out of state and tell me Calif Laws prohibit Ceramic Coating to be done in state. Have to go to Arizona. If someone does find a place- I'd love to know about it.

Why don't you contact Denmac Industrial Coatings in Paramount? Ask for Jim and tell him I sent ya...;^) Denmac has a website; it's not too fancy , but it will give you some info. Jim's a personal friend of mine for many years and he will treat you right. I have no financial interest here. I can just vouch for my friend and the other people that I've referred that have been happy with the work done at his company.

Man I tell 'ya, California laws seem to prohibit everything related to the car enthusiast these days. I wish they'd prohibit these gigantic 50K dollar 4x4's with their 50ft lift kits and no mudflaps.
I do believe there is a law on the books that says you NEED mudflaps when a vehicle is lifted beyond a certain point and the wheels CAN'T stick out past a certain point on the body. What's with the Formula-1 look on all these trucks lately anyways? You know they NEVER take 'em off road with their always pristine-looking powdercoated chassis parts underneath. LOL!
Hey 6998poncho, thanks for the heads up on your friend. I'll definitely give him a call to find out what he charges.

There is indeed a law that deals with both of the issues you previously stated, but a law is only as good as its enforcement... Cops are only interested in enforcing their 'cause-du-jour' which, these days, seems to be street racing. I remember in the 80's (
) when mini-trucks were the big thing- people got busted left and right for that ridiculous 'wheel sticking 6" out of the wheel well' look and not having mud flaps. Same goes for no front license plate enforcement... A couple years back, I heard of all sorts of people in the SFV getting busted for this. My '90 IROC has never seen a front license plate and I have never (knock on wood!!) been busted for it. I even got pulled over once (in a sketchy part of Long Beach) because the cop thought I was trying to buy drugs (his exact words) and his reason for pulling me over was that I had gone around the block twice (I was looking for parking!) and didn't have a front plate. He let me go and didn't even write me a ticket for the plate! I guess in LB, tweekers and crack dealers are the priority, and rightly so!
Not only should those (non)S.U.V.'s have mud flaps, but any commercial vehicle that is that high off the road is required to have the D.O.T. rear bumper to keep cars from running under the back of the vehicle and decapitating the occupants.

Speaking of cops, the other day I saw someone make a sudden lane change without using their turn signal right in front of a Sheriff's patrol car going down a street. The cop didn't even notice it. I guess he didn't want to get out of a nice comfy patrol car to write a ticket in 100-degree heat. LOL!
Hey 86_Dan_Z28,
You know something, that's kinda why I'm in favor of the tripling of vehicle license fees. Maybe it'll put some hurt into the pocketbooks of these 50K+ dollar '4x4' "yuppies" who will never take their rigs offroad in a million years.
To some extent, it's these people I blame for the demise of the Camaro/Firebird. If you look closely at the types of people who drive these gigantic things, it's mostly the same type of demographic that used to appeal to the F-body car. I know of several people who used to own an F-body car, but now choose to drive a huge lifted 4x4 truck/SUV instead.
Oh well, I can always still hope for a 2007 Camaro. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

There is a mud-flap law/requirement but in So Cal I don't think it's really enforced since no one off-roads regularly or drives anywhere near those kinds of conditions. As you go farther north into the more rural areas, where trucks encounter muddy roads/conditions on a regular basis, the police do tend to enforce that they have mud-flaps because otherwise they fling debris at other motorists.

Jason has one of those oversized $h!t boxes. j/k
It looks nice.
I live in a farming town and no one that drives off road regularly has a raised truck. They have stock height 4x4 2500 or larger full size trucks. The horse haulers usually are duallies. They all have flaps. Tractors are my biggest beef. They take up 1 1/2 lanes and throw huge basketball sized mud chunks. We have Sheriff and CHP only. As far as I know they don't hassle any body for no flaps.
I've heard that they pull some trucks over for them being so dirty that they can't see out the windows. Not just mud but thick dust that windshield wipers can't fix.
And DEER.... I hate them too. MthrFk'rs jump right in front of you.
Yeah tractors and deer.

Ah, yes... I remember my days in Northern SB County well...
Try coming around a curve at night on a motorcycle and being greeted by Bambi standing in the middle of the road! Talk about your 'deer in the headlights', I think I had to change my boxer shorts when I got home!
