Where to get GTA wheels painted or powdercoated in So. Cal?
I purchased a set of Classic Industries GTA style wheels awhile back and I'd like to get them painted in the proper (51P) gold color.
I talked to my local body shop, but he didn't want to do them. I guess he felt that they wouldn't be able to cover all the black areas inside the wheels or something.
The wheels only come painted in black from CI.
I thought about painting them myself, but I might have the same trouble getting the paint to cover all those recessed areas inside the diamond spoked parts too. Are there any places here in So. Cal that can paint or powdercoat these wheels in the proper gold color with good results?

Somebody on either thirdgen.org, or the Northeast thirdgen board painted the spokes on their TA wheels and said it was no problem and the paint held up very well. I would try to do it myself first. If you mask off the polished rim first, the worst case scenario is that you will need to get it redone by a pro.

Thanks Russ!
I prefer not to do them myself. I'd rather have a pro do them right the first time.LOL!
What scared me off from doing them myself was my local body shop's reluctance to paint the wheels for me. He probably would have painted them if I insisted, but he gave me the impression that they wouldn't be able to do them correctly. He was actually shaking his head while he was looking at them. I've had other work done by them and they're pretty good. Maybe they just don't know how to paint GTA wheels or something.
bluethunder28,
Thanks for the offer, but the wheels are still brand new. I haven't even installed them on the car yet. I just need to get them painted in 51P gold.

Try Olympic Powder-Coating in Santa Ana. I don't know if that color exists in powder or not, but I do know that they paint quite a few used rims. As for the process used, I'd think that you'd need to mask off the front and rear of the rim, bead blast off the black then powder-coat the center gold. This is a different process than how the OEM rims were painted.
