Pinks!
Pinks
Until now, reality shows have been all about what contestants win -- $1 million, a renovated home, a tricked-out car, a new mom. Other than varying degrees of dignity, there has been absolutely no risk of losing anything.
SPEED Channel is changing all that with its new show PINKS, set to debut in February of 2005.
Using the setting of a classic 1950s drag race, PINKS will pit contestants in a best two-out-of-three format, with the loser handing over the title (pink slip) to his or her vehicle. The rules are simple: two vehicles show up and drivers negotiate any head-start distance (vehicle lengths); vehicles line up, the flagman drops the flag and the first one down the quarter mile wins. After each round, the drivers have the opportunity to re-negotiate lengths.
If you are interested in participating in future episodes of PINKS™, please contact the producers on the PINKS™ Hot Line at 615-356-1920!
PINKS™ Rules
- Any model, any style or valued vehicle accepted.
- We will pair racers and handicap to make it fair.
- Cars, dragsters, motorcycles...whatever you bring.
- You are responsible for presenting the clear title to your vehicle.
- Producers will hold the titles before you race.
- You must sign general talent and liability releases.
- You must abide by the rules of the venue.
- No alcohol, drugs or weapons.
- The drag race is a best two races of three.
- Race will take place on a quarter mile strip.
- Watch your competitor’s practice run.
- Races started with a flag drop.
- Negotiate terms.
- Re-negotiation (terms)after first race.
- Re-negotiation (terms)after second race.
- You have no more than two hours to complete the race.
- Winner takes the loser's title!
Sounds like a cool program to watch!

About 2/3 of the way down the post you'll see junkassformula's responce, "I did the race on saturday. weird rules. kind of pissed me off. I raced my 2000 formula against a 96 lt1 car. wait and see what happens."
The guy with the civic backed out, but he wound up running his fourth gen instead of his third gen against another fourth gen.
