Salvage/Rebuilt title?

Ok, so I got the title to my 91 RS in the mail last week. Vehicle History: Salvaged. CARFAX says that my car was issued a reconstructed or rebuilt title after the salvage title was issued. That should mean that the vehicle is roadworthy again (?). Is the reconstructed title supposed to show up anywhere on my title? It says my car is registered through April 05.

I've had the car for about a month, and have spent just about every day learning about it and fixing minor problems with it, and I still haven't been able to figure out why it was a salvage title to begin with. It seems to be in pretty good shape except for the normal wear and tear that comes with a car with 131k miles on it. It looks like the bumper cover and hood were replaced, but, other than that, I can't tell. Reconstructed sounds about right to me.

But if my title doesn't say reconstructed, will I have trouble registering it or insuring it?

My car is a salvage, its not a big deal.

It just means the car was totaled by an insurance company for costing more to fix than it is worth. But someone bought it back and restored it, and was issued a new title with the salvage label.

Other than smog you have to get a brake and light inspection with a salvaged title.

As Kevin says, it isn't a big deal. Our cars generally don't have collector value and the value has dropped to the point that needing a repaint is just about enough to get one "totaled" by an insurance co. How does it drive? If it doesn't have any driveability issues, don't worry about it.

The car drives great.. I had to replace the high pressure power steering hose, but that was the biggest problem with driveability. It does need brake work, but the car has no problems driving, I love it.
