All Quiet On 3RD Gen Front

About as quiet as I have seen this board. Anyways my modified plenum is 90% done. I would say the runners are about 85% done. Like I said earlier this is taking a lot more work than I thought and longer. Hopefully with all the time and money spent I will see some improvement. If not it will be a disappointment with all the work I have put in on the mods.

I did not go as far a Jerry went and I can imagine how much work he put into the runners for Don and Kevin. I can see why he does not want to do it again.

Going camping this comming weekend so won't be able to finish up. Maybe the following weekend I can finish the project. Need to get the runners and plenum bead blasted to make the work look factory. Then I'll have to check the air fuel ratio. If the air intake is improved it might lean things out. Than again with the MAF maybe not. Allen

Work in progress

Anxious to see the modifications.
I think I have discovered the culprit in my CAI restriction and will be implimenting the fix soon. I have located the materials to do so, at considerably less cost than the cast elbow.

Hi Don

I agree that the intake system is where the power is going to be found in our cars with the present mods. Glad you found a cheaper solution. I truly believe you can get at "least" 320RWHP with your present setup.

I'm also going to clean up the MAF inlet and exit transition pieces that I made. I think I can make them flow a little better. Looking for every way to increase CFM. Trying to reduce turbulance and let the air flow as smoothly as posible. CFM=HP. Hehehehe. Allen

Yes it sure has Allen.. Everyone must be turning wrenches.. My fuel system is half way done.. But I still have alot of other work to do.. And esp.. Getting everything back together.. Im going to through in another pump in the tank also.. I already got it.. Acdelco.. Good enough to stay in there until it's ever used again..

Hope all works out for you with your runners.. if your making better flow then there must be a gain..

Don How did that clutch go? From Fontana.. Is it working?

Oh yeah, it works fine but I need to install a steel (heavier) flywheel to launch with. My runners reduced too much torque down low.

I have radically changed the direction of my car. I should be selling off the parts I no longer need in a couple months once I have time to finish what I have started. Mike can verify that my "competition" will be dissapointed with the direction I have taken my car

C'mon Don, who are you fooling? Jerry has full on race car complete with several hundred pounds of weight reduction, a roll cage, battery cut-off switch, etc.

My competition is Vincent, YOU, and Randy. We all have pretty mild combo's, mine just ahppens to be the fastest, or at least have the fastest posted time. Just because the bunny is faster, albeit somewhat untouchable, than you guys is no reason to bump it up a class, right?

I'm so so sorry James for beating up on you in the pass year or so. I didn't know whipping your *** like I did would make you spend money to change your engine combo. My bad!

Ha! EVERY SINGLE TIME I have said I would be at the track you were a no-show, including last year at Irwindale. Oooohhhhh and the excuses time after time. Well I finished my BSME so all I have left to finish is the truck.

How have you beat me up? You've NEVER had a good honest look at my car on the street so you can't rely on that...or maybe you can

I hadn't changed anything in a couple years (same combo since 2003), so why does a couple hundred bucks (net) on a few small tweaks scare you?

Looking at the list it looks like you still need to find a several more seconds to catch up to Mike's fastest posted time.

Don has changed his combo twice since the last time I changed mine......vincent has changed his once, and Jerry has done so many little tweaks that his car is now lighter than the blue 8-second NHRA Camaro that was a couple bays down from Don's shop.

It's no crime to admit you've been beaten by the best...however that being said ...I guess it would deal a severe blow to ones over inflated ego...I mean, that is, if one had such a thing....of course no one here has anything like that ....right? Ha Ha

It's OK Don, you don't have to live your victories vs. the Blue Bunny vicariously through jerry's fast race car...I'm sure one day you car will break into the 12's, even if it's just a little bit and then hopefully you'll be able to do it on a different day too

You guys wouldn't be talking so much trash if you knew what I had up my sleeves........

EDIT: Here, I'll help you, Branden and Rusty out......

There we go again.. Not quiet on the 3rdgen front.. Well I was going to include this in my last post, But I figure what the hell..
I don't see reason why James should give up on Jerry so easily.. Vincent harp's on James for the money he has spent.. James gave good information on what he had to say about combo changes .. I'll get mine also.. So deal is.. James get the plans get the weight plan.. You can get in the right direction.. It's for the top.. Can anyone reach it.. I do know this.. By July there is some 3rdgen's coming out.. All Various Ci's And various of intakes.. So Ca.. So as the wrenches turn..

I haven't spent any more money than Vincent has, He's just had the parts longer. He can talk that all day long but in the end it's just a heads/cam/intake car with a set of headers and a manual trans.

Nice car Don, I've never seen it at the track though. I remember sitting in my dad's lap when I was 5 as he cruised our neighborhood in his '69 Mercury Cyclone with a when I was a kid. I think it was pretty fast. Does that count too?

Are you intending this Own qoute of yours.. For myself to admit I never raced at the track? All reality I never fully raced a car in my life.. I enjoy the rush of top end.. However any street racing or drag racing cannot do that for me.. Drag racing probably would make me so nervous Id puke.. I still am interested in making some runs..

Vincent.. I give him credit.. He has been, Well far as I have seen.. The one person most racing at the track.. For several years.. He know's it takes money to build a car..

See everyone at Fontana.. Good Luck.. New subject..

Now James you know can't stand to see that RED 86 Z28 out in front of you at the finishline. I have seen the frustration in your face when you come in 2nd behind me. It's cool. One day I will let you have your moment in the spot light (hell naw, I don't think so!). And you will have a big smile on your face.

I don't think we have ever lined up at the track, and if we did it was your old brown 85 Z28. I do know I have never raced your red IROC at the track. I gave you dates I would be there but you never showed, or did show but without your car. I think you need to stop dreaming because your are confusing your imagination with reality.

Help me out here Vince…the last time we raced which would be that last time you lined up with the Blue Bunny over by Don’s shop, who won? Better yet who started talking all of the mad neck that resulted in a heads up street tire to street tire battle?

C’mon homie, toss me the keys so I can show you what a real 12 second pass looks like.

Now Mike before you can talk any kind of mess get your own car with your name on the title, do some mods bring it to the track, break in the 12's and then talk some mess. Mean while this is not your fight. The man thinks he himself can beat me anytime he wants and that will not be the case. Let Jr. drive his own car to get his own bragging rights. You know, make a name for himself in the streets and at the track. James needs to let people know who James is and to have second thoughts about racing him. Right now no one is scared to race James. Since he built this I guess maybe I don't know but I doubt it 11 second ride, he should go straight to the top to have bragging rights. If he can't do it then I'll be the next one in line to take him on and thats a fact and I will stand by it.

So now go for the TOP DOG and don't make any mistakes otherwise that's yo ***! Randy and I will be looking for your ***!

Some of you might be interested to know, Don has fixed the vacuum leak. He also found a clogged fuel filter and put in a stock chip. What a difference! I feel like a kid with new roller skates. When will it stop raining?

I was running a totally useless aftermarket chip (it came with the car when I bought it 3 years ago.) Among other things it had bypassed the EGR completely. No wonder I failed smog in '03.

The car should be like 13.00 next race!

I have no other plans for the upcoming year except winning the lottery and replacing Jerry as the #1 fastest driver.

That post was completely inappropriate. There was no smack talking of any kind
And I expected more from you...
