Jen behind the wheel and I am co-pilot (only certified instructors can co-pilot, no passengers allowed). Rusty was the camera man.

James ... in all his glory!

Sorry for the quality, Sr. Inertia was the camera man.

Well I held that drift too long and was off course so I just brought it around. The corner was tricky but fun if you just said the hell with it and just drifted it. The car actually stalled and I had to restart it (fuel sump issue?). I think ReddRocket actually went off in that same corner earlier in the day. I have in car footage of that drif/spin (~60 MPH) and Turn 1 (~80 MPH). Maybe I'll capture them and post it.

We have an I/O roll-bar mount camera mount if you have a roll bar in your car. We will be bringing out our new DVD camcorder with us to capture any downfalls.

Ken, I am just getting it back in order after the brkae swap. I never finished re tuning the suspension to the new attitude tha car has under braking. Other than that, its just getting it back in line, nothing new to hide.

In all honesty though, Mikey is at a disadvantage even though I have a V6. I have years of experience autoX racing. Ain't no big deal, just another race. The only thing that can hurt me is how they set the course that day. They often seem to favor a starting line that goes 40 feet ant then turns right to an uphill highHP straight. If this is the case its playing catchup for me and I'll make it back up in the corners. I always do.

Lets all not start this sh*t again
Last time I put my money where my mouth was nobody else showed the cash. Lets just keep this a fun friendly gathering of the club and not get ugly. We are going for fun.
Besides, no lunatic is going to race with a V6 for pinkslips, give me a break, I am not that stupid.

I guess its time I pick a name for this car to fit in with the club 'click".

We can call it the GGG to with the RR, CC, BB, WR, am I missing some?

This Camaro is the "Glorified Grocery Getter". Learn it, know it. And futher more, be embarassed if you are beat by it.

Dean…I want your *** so bad I’m already loosing sleep over it and the fact that someone with so many years of experience is in this particular venue is making additional modifications to his vehicle based on this challenge, speaks volumes. Mod away my friend because all things equal…its going to come down to the nut behind the wheel.

Well, I think we need to define "club" in this context – i.e. about 5 or 6 of us that will be in attendance.

It's not going to be a club meeting with 20 or so showing up. Besides, there aren't many club members who like to go fast AND turn the steering wheel.

I just figured since I am a "banned" member is SC3G and I organized this ... I am glad you are finally coming out to an event, I want to see how your car will do with the new mods.

Oh, you mentioned you have Friday off? Can you meet me at work at lunch time (11:30-12:30) on Friday?

A drag racing friend of mine has this reply to autoxrs'

If you can go down the track and turn a corner you are not going fast enough.

Ah now James come on.. You guys stick to the plan and do what ever it is you guys need to do.. Hopefully there will be some good times and great experiences..

Dean does have a Nice car.. It will probably be pretty awesome to see it in action for all of you.. I've seen Dean and His Wife on the road and the car was just awesome seeing it rolling down the street..

I myself once told a story about a Race in the Flamed1 and If I can recall I was probably laughed at.. Atleast in Deans situation he can show what the car can do with this situation may not mean he can run with this Gt40.. My story well.. Im still waiting for someone to Go top end.. That's My Rush..

Peace

Thank you Brandon.

On the GT40 story,
Guy passes me going into the high bank at Fontana.

Passes another car out out of the high bank turn 2 going down the short straight jont before turning into the infeild (I did also)

He then burst around a Chevelle in the middle of the Chicane of turning infeild 3-4. I pass the chevelle out of that turn 4 and the photo sequence picks up from there. You can see the front of the Chevelle in the first picture as I pass it. You can see the section of the track I circled on the Cardomain site.

Now tell me James that the guy was not pushing it in the GT40 to pass someone mid chicane and around him through tight turn 4 if he was just trying to stay away from a crazy guy in a Camaro and goosed it breifly. Look again at the pictures and video and you'll see he was on it hard and leaving me easily down the straights even after he was far clear of me. The little chance I had I did hang with him in the corners. At the end of the sequence he was gone down that long infeild straight at about 150+. So why was he not then trying as you claim James? You keep wishing to discredit my skills and the cars cornering ability. You'll find out soon enough. But why be worried, its only a 135hp Automatic V6 right? put your money on Mike.

I don't claim this car to be a rocketship, not even close. What I do claim is that it corners and brakes beyond belief of most of you for a street dcar with full creature comfort weight including A/C. For what it is, it happen to corner awesome, and it used to be better in the photo sequence until I installed the new 6piston brakes up front and it is now standing on its nose under hard braking inclining the roll axis and now locking the rear brakes like it never did before. Hence why I had to lower the rear roll center now and never had to prior upon corner entrance. If I lower it too much to plant the rear I loose the great turnin characteristics of this car but I gain great braking. I still need to reset the rear roll back up a tad and reduce the rear pressure with installing a prop valve because the roll axis to gret the greaat turnin is still slightly standing on its nose under extreme braking and the back is light and will lock still.

Thus why I say I have to rebalance the car back to what it used to do entering a corner. Right now it is only about 90%, but still great. Yet if iI am going to take it out to an AutoX event I want it understandably 100%, wouldn't anyone? I don't spend my life on this car, I generally only touch it when it needs maintinace from somthing wearing or breaking- its not my first hobby, it does not comsume my everyday life and income.

Its a daily driver that I built because it came time to sell it and buy an new car that would depreciate, or just build this for her and keep it. I like things that are different, so does the wife. Who elses wife drives a car this fun that is not stock for daily commuting? She loves it, and I have occational fun in it also as well as all of my cars and trucks.

Was this a sanctioned event? Was there any reason at all for the guy to take a million dollar car hard as it can into a corner to stack it up? Do you think he even cared what was in his rear view? Did you ask him about it, and ask him to try and get away from you?

You can make assumptions and claims all day long. I have a 15 second TA that is faster than one black LS1 Formula at a drag strip, I have the timeslip to prove it. I guess that makes me a pro drag racer since I can beat a faster car with a slower one.

Truth is, the guy missed a shift. After that, he aborted the run. Without asking, I could run around saying my car is faster than an LS1, even though its not true... it just happened one day. I even have witnesses. Coulda had video if someone had a camera.

Well I have a video clip for proof, you guys cn't seem to accept that. Things are much faster when in the car than seeing things on Video.

As for the GT40, these guys out here are multi-millionaires and bend these cars up all the time, they simply fix them. These cars are in fact raced at 100% to this day at such events as the upcoming HSR West. Maybe you need to attend an event and see for yourself Madmax.

Next HSR West event is at Calif Speedway June 24-26 (crap, the day of autoX) and I can't make it on Saturday. I will have to sneak in and out during AutoX.

I've been to those type of events. I talked to a few of the guys, and 2 of them told me when asked that they dont push the cars all the way to the limit. The others wouldnt say. One guy was specifically worried about getting/making replacement parts as they were not available like you'd find an oil filter for a SBC. He was driving some sort of mid 60's can-am car IIRC.

I've seen the vid, doesnt prove or show much except that your car and that car were in the same frame. Maybe you were keeping up and maybe he wasnt sandbagging, but honestly its extremely hard to tell much from the video.

Not saying your car isnt fast, I have little doubt. I've seen what you did to it. Too bad you have the V6 that could, I would love to see that toy you have in your garage in the car. You're also one of the better drivers around here, but like the rest of us... you dont do it for a living. Something to be said for having that as your only job and only purpose. Those kind of people would embarass us all.

Oh man this is starting to get funny.. I don't know if people are being childish or what with this game back an forth about this Gt-40.. James thought he could be smart.. But Hey Like Kevin Said.. Even anything related to this topic I should not even be speaking now.. Because there is to many people going to always repeat the whole thing over again..

Id like to see this conversation end on this matter regards to everything spoken.. If everyone does not agree Right Now.. That means you don't respect Tgo.. This is an Event thread let's keep it at that..

Man geeze I should have bought a Ford lmao j/k

How’s this sound for a way Mike and Dean can settle their challenge on the 26th.

Each make a couple passes thru the course and get their best times. Then swap cars and do it again. Best average time for all passes in both cars claims top driver until the next Auto-X challenge.

This madness will require them to factor in a bit of risk, trust and respect.

Think they can handle it?

I'll bet somebody will come up with an excuse as to why they can't run. Or why it isn't a fair match.

What kind of fun involves a grease gun, some lube, Chris and James??
