Picked up an '85 TA

It looks like I've joined everyone else in the club that drives a Firebird. I picked this up yesterday for only $1000, the body was spraypainted black right over every decal and nothing was masked off (there's paint on the windows where it got close to the body) and the interior is terrible (spraypainted panels, bad seats, mismatched carpet, torn headliner), but the good news is under the hood: an engine that runs. I'll be starting at SDSU at the end of the month, I need a car, and the Camaro/LT1 wasn't looking like it was going to be done in time. I'm swapping my brand new interior from the Camaro over and gonna start sanding all of this ***-awful spraypaint off so I can get it painted and look half-decent. It needs a tune-up, but anything is better than that Civic I've been putting around.

Sounds like a lot of work and money for an 85 TA, but as long as you are satisfied

The engine bay doesn't look half bad, considering what has been done to the rest of the car. Can I have your seat covers?? (kidding).

If that's an 85, I know why you need a tune up. The MAF sensor is missing. You may have an engine check light on or the bulb is out.

The blue-ish color that I can see under hood and on the doors doesn't look bad. Are you gonna re-paint to original style coloring or go custom?

Yeah, I was wondering about the MAF sensor... I've got no check engine light on, though.

The interior is almost completely done already. I spent the entire day putting all of my goodies in there, getting rid of that overhead console, adding a rear window defroster and other things of the sort, and now it looks really good. I'll post pictures in the morning.

I'll be getting the car repainted the original color blue, but not the original style (it was two toned, and I've never been a huge fan of that). I think blue will stand out more than the black, because I don't see as many blue cars as black.

The MAF is on those cars is located partially under the boxed intake and overflow coolant lines so you wouldn't see it in the pics.

If you think the wheels are nice, you should see the valve stem caps that were with them.
