The deal of the century is waiting for you... Dyno Don makes the best set of headers for the v8 third gens. Another set that is great for the street are the Hooker 2055's, both of these give excellent spark plug access and are made to allow you to keep the plug wires from burning on the headers. Don's headers are a modification on the SLP design that allows for clearance with the steering column without having to bash in a header tube. Your best bet for a custom chip is to contact Dyno Don or his son Kevin. They don't just burn a generic chip like the over the counter aftermarket chips. They will hook up a computer to your car and as you test drive it they will customise the chip settings to fit exactly what your engine is doing under all conditions. You would have to check with them on price, but it will be competitive with the aftermarket generics.

if anyone can help me out I would appreciate it. The mufflers look to beat up Im looking for sometthing more new. I also wanted to know what the MAF sensor does for the car. Does it control the airflow to the engine? Is there anyway to let it breathe more? Tell me what upgrades I should get for my car. I really wanna be able to beat a 4th gen SS camaro with a passion.

a 4thgen SS ... ok would that be the 96-97 LT1 or the 98-02 LS1?
and i would highly suggest using the search button before you just start buying parts..
Hypertech is crap.. Talk to Dyno Don or Kevin on this board.. they are really really good at what they do, and will give you advice on what you need.
places to start modding a stock car.. would be a full exhaust.. then a cold air intake/filters, computer tuning.. ect.
the one mike just pictured above is not beat up.. its just weathered a little bit, which a new one will look like in about a month or 2...
so you want to beat it in a 1/4 mile? or road race? or 1/8mile or what? i hope you dont street race..

I don't race, I just built my car for cruising, but I've hung around Don's shop enough helping him with cars and talking about combinations enough to get an idea what works for drag racing.
You want a 3.42 posi rear end, with a t-56 3.73 is even better, but it is probably a little low for a daily driver with an automatic or t-5.
For rear suspension, don't bother with any high dollar upgrades unless you just want to spend money. Don can box your lower control arms, and fab up relocation brackets, as well as box your panhard rod as well.
For an engine combination, the 23 degree Trick Flow heads on with a 10.5:1 c.r. makes great power at a reasonable cost. There are a number of cam choices depending on trans, and how much low end you need, and whether you are running a stock converter or loose converter. A set of Don's headers, the dual cat set up with a 3 inch cat back through a free flowing muffler like Flowmaster, Magna Flow, etc. For an intake, some guys are running Super Rams, Allen, Don, and Kevin are running a large base, big runners, and a ported stock plenum. If you get siamesed runners like Edelbrock, SLP, or TPIS, you can remove part of the dividing wall between the runners at the top and bottom to make the runners part of the plenum which raises the peak rpm. Allen's dyno numbers showed massive hp and torque gains throughout the rev range. You can get 330-350 hp at the rear wheels with this sort of combo. That gives you Lt1/Ls1 hpower numbers.

Don's # is 714-633-5168.. his machine will pick up after 2 rings.. just leave him a message... he is usually working on a car or 2.. so he might pick up as you are talking..
the system above should be a 3" system, and is waaaay better than stock.. i believe that the muffler should be an 80 series.. which is a pretty decent sound and flow.. i have the same on mine at the moment.
when you do the headers, dont forget to buy a 3" cat as well. Magnaflow has a line of cats by Carsound, and usually you can find them on line for around 60$
and to beat an LS1, with a driver that is at lease decent.. you're going to be getting into a cam/head/intake swap..
best thing is do to your research on this board, talk to Don or any other members with good combo's. Get your budget set on how much you want to spend, total.. include extra for little parts that you dont always know about.. then set out to get what parts work well with each other..

I must disagree with what people are saying in this thread....
What you need is a SHIFT KIT...and I just happen to have one
Deal of the MFin millenium.

The ratio's I've seen-
1st:2.66
2nd:1.78
3rd:1.30
4th:1.00
5th:0.74
6th:0.50
Would give you a cruise speed of 75mph @2000rpms with 4.10's. Anything taller would render your 6th gear useless.

I think your shift kit combined with my exhaust system would make for an incredibly pleasurable experience behind the wheel of this young mans third gen.
