Transmission Shops.

Any good transmission shops in SoCal? I need to have my vette servo, 9C1 upshift valve and PML cover installed.

True

I think I misread the original post I thought you were looking for a good place to build a tranny. Although I don't really mess with the internals of a 700R4, I have removed and installed a few.

Umm, not quite...I would much rather have a brain surgeon work on my tranny that a mechanic cutting open my skull.

I think $1050.00 is probably an average price for a decent trans rebuild. If it is in your car then the price would probably be closer to $1300 or 1400. You may find somebody cheaper, but you may find someone who rebuilds it with used or substandard parts too.

Agreed. If you were rebuilding the entire tranny, that's a reasonable price but just to install a valve and servo? Crazy...

Art Carr in Huntington Beach

He is nationwide known for his racing trannies. I had mine done there for $3400, but it spared no expense. I think just the tranny rebuild was $2000, the converter was $900, and the tranny cooler was $200. R/R was $300.

Forward clutch drum.

Our intermediate shaft snaps at the drum, due to the massive torque of the 3.8

This is an upgraded one - just another $550

By your statement I thought that was included in the $2k rebuild = hell of a deal.
