Built 700 built weeks away

The Red Roc is going to be rolling here real soon.. The trans is going to be tougher than you think I finished off ordering my Trans Go Kit's.. "Gotta Go Trans Go" Danny's famous words.. I picked up that Beast Sun shell, a transgo sep. plate.. And thats about it.. Not much else needed.. So now my only thought is my converter.. Am I going to trust that with my X $$$ transmission.. It's a 2800 stall Toys converter, Could they rebuild it or restall it what ever it is they do?

I am glad to hear that, and hopefully we will work on it next week.

Well word is those aftermarket 5 pinion planets are I cant say less quality but they are found to break and they don't recommend them in High performance builds, and they lowered there prices on them I guess.. So seems there saying stay with your Oem planets there not breaking as to say on most..

A heat treated inputshaft is Idea.. But I don't want to put that kinda money into a trans that is well known to fail somewhere along the road.. However They have a heat treated drum with Larger Clutches.. That can be interesting for a 4l60e..

I did get a Borg Warner 29 element along with a 13 vane pump with hardened pump rings.. And thrust bearings etc.. Im unsure still if the 13 vane was a bad idea..

What is the Cryoed fwd piston?

Brandon, Go with the GM '02 OEM rear 5 planetary gear setups and fronts for that matter. They are stronger than any aftermarket ones currently being made. I have been running them in my current truck tranny for a few years now and they are extremely trouble free. Trust me, I have wasted many 700r4's in this truck since I bought it new in '89. I probably had at least 6 or 7 trannies in this truck including the previuos one Jimmy built me (Darrell Youngs Racing Trans) that was a 4 planetary setup. We replaced that broken one with new GM parts- (still 4 plantaries in it) but all the bells and whistles were transfered to a V6 case and I put that one into the Camaro about 3 1/2 years ago. Its fine for the low HP V6, but my truck still wasted it. The latest one in the truck has all the aftermarket extreme performance internals- spared no expense. The 5 planetaries are well worth the money in the longrun and especially for daily abuse and heavy loads I haul around.

PS- Jimmy even blocked the accumulator pump in this unit to aid pressure I guess for the 1st gear hold- I think if I recall. Damn trannies are like a foriegn language. I watched him build it but I can't remember all the intricacies of the internals and his modifications and tricks.

Yeah I wish I could but my spending limit is up on this transmission.. I could have went some other routes in the build and cut some cost but I couldn't.. My plan is just to baby the car and get things running good.. I want the car together and running when drag racing starts.. I may even consider not doing my fuel system plan.. It's just I don't have all the total facts of the outcome of the system for all conditions.. James is kinda right.. What's the sense? A good intake pump is good enough for our performance levels.. But there is the concern of the sock problem.. That's one problem with the last pump..

Well, before we started we ran into a problem with the Pump.. The pump rings or vanes Scored? into the pump.. So Ivan is checking out if that can be fixed, machined etc.. It's the Flat side of the pump not the side the pump stuff sits into.. It's not real deep but it is a lil.. So that is going to put us back a few weeks.. I have to Make a trip to Vegas for a Tournament.. And Ivan is real busy himself with his projects.. So we can still keep our Fontana Goal with this new transmission with the set back..

Hey buddy,
I have to stop tomorrow at the school to use the resurfcing machine to fix the pump. Also please return the 13 vanes kit because everybody I know told me to stay with 10 vanes; on the other hand, it takes couples of hours to modify the pump for the 13 vanes.

hehe I guess that's what Ivan is about to do.. Now well Im leaning on this 13 vane.. I really want to learn more about it.. I know there is some reason why they made it.. So it can't be that bad.. I have seen the 10 vanes in real bad shape.. But I never did learn to understand the wear and reasons.. It's no problem running the 10 vane again.. But I would like to learn more information regards to everything about the 13 vane..

Of course someday that day will come.. I cant go an put a 6 speed in the car..

I think it will be one of the better transmission's I have ever owned or had built.. Were not making this trans shift all hard either.. I can't handle that no more.. Shift's will be nice and clean and crisp.. lightly chirp the 2nd and have a nice firm 4th..

Im just looking to get those Dam passes.. April whenever.. So hopefully a Few Red cars will be ready to set some action.. We have a handful.. It be great to see all of them..
