Any links to Cali window tinting laws?

I need to get my truck done, but a buddy who was born here got a ticket fopr having tint. The cop told him he couldn't have any tint at all.

He's going to fight it in court.

IIRC, you can only tint the rear window and the rear passenger quarter windows. Front door windows cannot be tinted.

No, but you can completely black out any glass behind the driver if you have mirrors on both sides of the car. Tint on side glass next to the driver or in front is illegal at any shade. Thats if they havent changed the rules, and I'm not aware that they have.

I believe it is illegal to tint the sides, I did it anyway though. 5% on the hatch and 15% on the sides. Had it done a month ago with no problems yet. Just don't get caught.

Just don't give them any other reason to pull you over and they may not bother you about the windows. Come to think of it, I got a speeding ticket a couple years ago and the cop didn't say anything about my tinted side windows, just lucky I guess.

I got a ticket for door window tint the first week I started driving the car. It was on it when I bought it, and I had to take the tint off and get the ticket signed. The cop actually came out from behind the desk, and told my dad and I we needed front license plates too or he'd ticket us for that next time...

read section 26708 (a) V.C. (vehicle code). you can only have a clear film on the front side windows, that reject UV and UB rays-nothing with color. you can use the stick on ones, like all the old people use, that you can remove after dark.

I've had limo tint (the darkest it gets) on every window (except the windshield) for 2 years now... never been pulled over for it (knock on wood).

I don't think you would have a huge problem. If you see a cop, just roll your windows down or something.
