my poor camaro
my poor camaro
i know i know, it's been a long...long...long time. between school and work i have little time for much of anything anymore, much less browsing this forum like a maniac like i did back in the day.
anyways, i am in need of some help. i don't know if any of you remember, but about 3yrs ago i sold my '84 and bought a '92 tbi v8. two days ago i was pulling into a parking space and my car started acting wierd. when i give it gas it loses power and feels like its about to die. if i let off the gas it's fine, but if i continue to try and give it gas it dies. also idles rough at times.
i was getting a code 32 so i replaced my egr valve, but alas, it did not solve my problem.
i'm thinking it has something to do with the fuel pump pressure, but i'm unsure and needed some advice before i go replacing a bunch of stuff. money is really really tight for me right now, and whatever the problem is i hope i can fix it myself. any input is much appreciated
thanks guys,
jenn

what you are describing isnt a EGR... if the egr was stuck open it would idle rough and when you give it gas would start to smooth out...
make sure the injector power clips are conected firmly and also does it chug any type of smoke or no?
Re: my poor camaro
nope, no smoke, but it does chug when i'm trying to drive it.
when it starts to go again after it dies it's almost as if my fuel is kind of stopping, then the fuel is built up and gets pushed out all at once and my car jerks forward. if that makes sense. kind of like, if your washing your lawn, and a rock (someway, somehow...) gets stuck in the hose, the pressure from the water eventually pushes the rock out and all the that built up water behind it all at once as well. it's sorta like that.
i hope i'm not confusing anyone... maybe thats too much description lol.

EDIT: nope doesnt chug smoke... totally read that wrong... sorry! lol.

Re: my poor camaro
I thought it might be an internal piece of the cat converter or Muffler has come loose, and when she trys to accellerate, the exhaust pushes it up in front of the pipe, making is strangle the exhaust flow. It will run OK at idle, but will drive horribly with no power.
Throttle body Injection is usually more forgiving to bad fuel pressure, but if the pump is dying, yes, that sounds like it could be it as well. On a TBI, you should be able to see it "misting" fuel with the air cleaner off when you try and rev it.
If it's dumping a stream of fuel, that's a different problem.
Good luck!
