Fan Question

Where do I start.....ok one afternoon I turned on my car and my friend and I noticed the car was over heating.....? Well we noticed that the fan wasn't turning on.

Steps:
1. Replaced the fan (Nothing)
2. Replaced the relay switch (Nothing)

Can someone please help me understand what my problem might be??

Thanks

How hot is "overheating"?

1. Replaced the fan (Nothing)

Did you replace the relay or the fan switch? There is a relay that turns on your fan, but it is controlled by a thermostat switch on the engine. That switch is separate from your water temp ga. sender. That also brings up the question, did you check to make sure your temp was as hot as the gauge indicated? One more thing I just thought of, does your car have ac? If it does, did you try turning on your a/c to see if the fan comes on then?

Re: Fan Question

On the right side head, there is a temp switch, (it's between 6-8) remove the wire and gnd. it with the key on. It should make the fan run, if it does, replace the temp sw., if not then you will need to start tracing the wires to see where the problem lies.
