Would it be a smart move?

Hello All,
Several weeks ago while I was washing and polishing my IROC (LB9/T5 80k mi) a guy came and offered me $7100 cash for my car, I know that at this moment it is not worth that and now regret not selling it to get me another IROC but this one being a 350/auto combo. I really love this car and love driving a manual car (pain in the a** in traffic) but was wondering would I be making a mistake selling my Stick shift Iroc to get me a 350/auto Iroc? I was looking at a Black 89 Iroc with a 350/auto 130k mi, 4 wheel disk brakes, in great condition only catch is that the passenger window doesn't roll down all the way. What do you guys think?
Look at my garage Icon to see pics of my car.

For performance, the manual is superior.

For daily transportation, especially in traffic, the auto is superior.

You can also just buy a "beater" daily driver. My overall insurance on the 2 cars is actually cheaper, because my primary car is a wheezing V6.

Maybe you can arrange to trade someone for a week or so, and spend some time in an auto car, then decide from your own experience.

Re: Would it be a smart move?

Actually I already have a DD which is a 95 MC z34, and since I always wanted a manual Iroc I set my sights on the one I have now, I wanted one since I was like 7 years old cause my cousin had one and one time I sat in it and fell in love, But now that I don't go to the track or race I just wanted a nice Iroc to cruise in hence the 350/auto Iroc I am looking at.

you can sell yours to him and i'm sure u'd find another one for cheaper to replace yours. Or even get that 350 and swap in a t56 with the extra money you'd have

Re: Would it be a smart move?

I also drive a 5-speed IROC, and really enjoy having a manual trans. TPI-engined 3rd gens are also fun with an automatic--unlike, say, 5.0 Mustangs where the difference between a manual and auto is huge.

I'd suggest driving an auto Camaro to see what you think. I've driven some firm-shifting auto thirdgens that were really fun.

Another thing to consider is that if your DD is an auto, it's nice to have a stick-shift around for a little variety.

Re: Would it be a smart move?

Yeah, I know, I had 2 mustang 5.0's one auto and one manual. The auto was my DD and it suck a**, then I got my MC Z34 and even that felt faster. Then I bought a manual 5.0 and it was alot better than that sluggish auto 5.0 I had. I was talking it over with my dad and he said that as time goes by manual Irocs are going to get hard to come by so he said if you want the 350 then just save up and when that 305 blows, throw in the 350/t56 combo as I will have everything already there and won't have to hunt for those little parts that are needed when swapping an auto to manual. Thanks you guys for your input.
