brake question

brake question

I GOT A 68 camaro motor turns on fine and runs great....but when i push the brakes it dies........... could it be the brake booster??
when i push the brakes i hear a light hissing sound then it chokes and dies..... could a booster make the car shut off?
please HELP

2 possiblities: Your booster has a big vacuum leak, and when you push the pedal, it creates a big vacuum leak in the engine. Usually that does not kill the motor, but it might if you have a big cam and weak vacuum at idle.

The other is that you have a leak in the rear seal of your master cylinder, and it is actually sucking the fluid from the brake master into the engine. Not common, but it can kill the engine. Is there any fluid residue dripping down the brake booster from where the master cylinder plugs into it?

Neither of these will kill the engine if the engine is otherwise in a good state of tune, so you probably have more than one problem, not uncommon in a 40 year old car.

well it has a 429 motor.... i dont know of any mods...i just bought it n i have to take it to the dmv to get the dam inspection(AARGH!) but yea the motor Does though look like its been there for A LOOONG TIME!....the plate frame says undefeated since 1970 LOL!! i wish i purchased it then! im going to change the booster today hopefully it will solve the problem....ill keep you posted

i appreciate your honesty......but im here because i DO have a third gen as well as a first! just a simple question wouldnt hurt anyone...... its a booster, n thirdgens have boosters too...i made this thread to ask anyone if they had this symptom EVEN on their third gen.....i hope this didnt bug you but eh! like i said thank you for being honest....
