Re: Think this intake is worth getting. It does have an EGR.

No, the ports are very small and no fuel rails that will bolt on. you can see more pictures at https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/alte...-manifold.html

Look at how the stock fuel rails need to be cut up just to fit on it and thats with no fuel cross over tubes or reg.
The epoxy on the outside by the injectors shows how small it is.

Re: Think this intake is worth getting. It does have an EGR.

JerryWho nailed it, the runners need to be a lot bigger in diameter, it's not going to flow enough air at higher RPMs. If the design was all that great, they would have produced it.

That's the same as the intake I have. Damnit, looks like everyone has found it and is bidding on it. I'm prepared to go a long way to get it, mine has been modified. BTW, the intake is useless without the fuel rails (I have them)

Drat it. I'm very interested in bidding on that intake. Looks like the price will be high with everyone knowing about it.

Allen, Look at the area above the injector it's very small and at a bad angle. I don't think this is a good choice for a 350 or larger size motor. Your First, LT-1 Or a fully worked Super Ram will suport larger motors better. Small and short runners are a bad combo.

I didnt bother after you pointed out the flaws. But I wonder why their isn't a aftermarket intake like this though? I know there is the Holly Stealth Ram, but its not 50 state legal. The two piece design just looks so much easier to work with. I would of thought BBK would of done something like this and not a super ram copy.

The manifold was done by Jim when he was at Flowmaster 20 years ago, I think we all know a little more today and i hope to know more 20 years from now. In 1989 i was building SBC with 740 hp and 690 ft NA that ran for 3 hours at WOT. Today we can do the same NA SBC at 950 hp.

Also one more intake manifold will be listed soon, the last one.........

I said "I don't think this is a good choice for a 350 or larger size motor"

I have a new motor on the stand for my 90 Camaro that might be a good fit for it, It's a large bore 305 with 6.25 rods and a JRC solid roller cam that might see 8,000 rpm. If the small ports will flow the needed amount (15% less then a 350) I am sure it will love the short runners.
Now if AFR will ship me the heads i ordered for it 4 weeks ago (was quoted 2-3 weeks) this thing will get done.

No, I wasn't home and I had a sniper running, my final bid didn't process since it was @ 760 when it tried to bid. I was in the 460 range for my last processed bid. If you want to get rid of it, let me know.

I think there is potental if it is welded up and ported. I would make the areas wider where they transition into the plenum, and taller where the injectors sit. Jerry knows exactly how to do it.

Hey TA, speaking of intakes, how is the aluminum mining going on your intake? You should have quite a pile of aluminum.

While lurking around, I've heard more than a few local members talk about their theoretical 305 setups, but they usually get passed up for the bigger-numbers 350.

Nice to see someone from the socal 'skunk works' putting something together.

Doing some math that is about the same cfm as a 350 turning 7000rpm. I better keep a sharp lookout. That motor has some serious potential.

Jerry's version of a 305 more like the NASCAR version of a 350.

my question is...
why a 305?
especially if you are going to do a large bore, you are practically building a 350

I was going to build a 265 (305 block with a 3 inch crank) but the head selection was very limited with the small bore and i wanted a combo that was fun to drive and spin some rpm with out making 700 hp. This combo is shooting for 440 plus hp from 5k to 8k and a peak of 485 to 490 hp. I built a motor for my 92 camaro 4.145 X 3.800 aluminum block, dart pro 215s, 248@50 solid roller and a super ram and every time you snap the throttle body open in 5 seconds your going way to fast for a street car, so that motor just sits on an engine stand in front of this car.

For that intake, not me, but I just might grab that motor on the stand while you have dinner.

If you need specialty legth bolts go to a place called rainbow bolts in riverside. I once bought some weird size allen heads from them for slp runners I had and couldn't find these anywhere else. They are off riverside avenue.

I was talking about the $90 change, Not the intake. You know the old, call the pizza delivery guy and tell him you have a 100 dollar bill and then hold him up when he gets out of the car for the $90 change. I think i was getting setup by Don.

Re: Think this intake is worth getting. It does have an EGR.

This manifold is an excellent starting point for his (small discplacement, high RPM) engine program. It would need a lot of work to be good on a larger engine, and would probably sacrifice torque over a longer runner design.

Considering the price of my current intake project, including buying the Vortec baseplate and super ram, about $300 now in welding, and about two hundred dollars in tools to port it, not to mention the hours of frustration, his purchase price is a smokin' deal.

Powerful is not cheap, cheap is not powerful.

Agree Troy. Most do not realize the work that goes into modifying one of these intake systems.
