Live in the Hollywood area...need a good honest mechanic that actually knows the 5.0 TPI in my '85 TA - unlike the one I just went to. Anyone have a recommendation? Also going to have some bodywork and paint done...same question. I notice most of the places recommended here seem to be in OC, there must be some LA or SFV people that know what the hell they're doing!

Not really... Most of the old school mechanics stuck with carbs, and the new school mechanics are all about the LS1. Mason got his Corvette done by Quarter Mile Performance, you can check them out and see.

The '85 TPI setup is a bastard child though, different from the 86-89 and 90-92 setups.

Kevin any ideas on a paint shop? Pretty straight body but a Mass car so has some rust, but nothing rotted through. Just want a presentable professional job, and I know most places are either really high-end or total garbage. Any thoughts would be really appreciated.
