Passed Smog Yesterday

It didn't pass the first time. The HC's and the CO's were just a tiny bit too high at 25mph. Went to Autozone and bought some Lucas Octane Booster $10. Went back 25 minutes later and it passed. Don't have to worry about this for another 2 years.

That's a nice tip for passing smog. Wouldn't it be nice to have a sticky on the forum with all those "how to pass smog" tricks, since this seems to be a constant area of concern?

Passing smog is always good news. I take it you have "your" transmission back in the car?

Re: Passed Smog Yesterday

Congrats. I took mine in September and it failed twice. It failed by 1 point due to the HC's at 25mph. Im having an overheating problem that it requires the AC to be on at all times if not it will overheat badly. So I got a 30 day extension which I gotta take it this week again to see if it passes.

Re: Passed Smog Yesterday

Do what I did in post 1 and you will be alright. Oh and run Super unleaded gas and let the engine heat up to 220.

Re: Passed Smog Yesterday

Do you think mine has a chance of passing with those tricks you mentioed vincent?

220,000 305 TBI

No real problems, just an old engine.

I have Hooker 2055's, will this cause it to fail the visual inspection?

Re: Passed Smog Yesterday

My '85 TA TPI failed and I had to get a new cat, which now has to be a very expensive one with state "approved" serial # on it, and I then passed. The reduced allowed emissions from last April are a bitch. Ah, Kalifornia.

Yeah the fan running constantly will cause a fail. Get that straightened out and you'll be good.

I don't believe it would be that difficult to pass if thats all you need. I mean, I also own an 82 Regal that needed a cat to pass an it did wit flying colors. Just cost 200 for part an installation. Personally, it is whut it is....
