Well, I have two other Firebirds. This “For Sale” Ad is just something that’s sensible as three ThirdGen’s isn’t that reasonable… If it doesn’t sell that’s okay, I’m going to enjoy the T-Tops & Manual Transmission.

The Coolant Temperature Sensor was no-charge and the Thermostat was covered with my AutoZone Rewards. The EGR Valve was removed (post #18) so the TV Switch will be blocked-off with an Aluminum Plug. A 160F or 71C Thermostat was selected from Moto-Rad which is the same Brand as the Radiator Cap (post #11).


Temperature Coolant Sensor $0.00, Thermostat $0.00, Thermostat Housing & Gasket $16.53, Thermostat Gasket Sealer $2.19, Thermal Vacuum Switch Plug $4.54 and Thermostat Housing Bolts $4.83 (not pictured).

 

The price difference between an aluminum & cast iron Water Pump was only $1.00 but had to be special ordered, so the previous Water Pump (post #17) was returned.

Many Moons ago, I bought a set of USED Doug Thorley Tri-Y Headers (#375Y) and had a Thermal Ceramic Coating applied @Embee Performance.

Needed some Adapters, Gaskets, Hardware & Spark Plug Wires for the installation and @Team C Performance in Bellflower had them in-stock.

The best price I found for a shipped Intermediate Pipe was from AP Exhaust - XLERATOR X5500. Which is a nice 3” mandrel bent pipe made out of prime steel.


Intermediate Pipe $93.26

Displeased with the Exhaust Hanger from the Intermediate Pipe being cutoff and replaced with a generic Exhaust Hanger bolted & welded to a different location. Would rather have utilized the original design and location because now it’s crooked!

The Muffler was also a great price! Chassis specific since it’s a FLOWMASTER 80 - Series Street Muffler 42583 for single inlet & dual outlet.

Labor was performed by Express Auto Repair in Bellflower, CA.

The OEM dipstick was replaced.

Installation of Starter; I choose an updated LT1 design (post #38) which required a NEW positive Battery Cable & Battery Terminal Adapter to be fitted and routed. Unfortunately, this was very poorly done and I’ll need to redo.

Installation required a NEW Clutch Cylinder due to an issue that arose from its proximity to the header (post #39).

The Y-Pipe looks like some generic piece from overseas.

 

Kudos to the AutoZone Limited Lifetime Warranty

I returned a replacement Starter from my inactive, 1989 Firebird Formula 350 for $96.99 in credit towards my purchase and I paid the difference.
& $1.28 in AutoZone Rewards for the Design Engineering, Inc. Versa-Shield in an attempt to preserve the Starter from any heat not contained by the Thermal Ceramic Coating.

The installation of the Doug Thorley Tri-Y Headers (# 375Y) encountered a major hurdle due to the Clutch Cylinder coming into contact with the Header on the Driver’s Side. The issue was two-fold as the original Clutch Cylinder was made of plastic. Therefore, an aftermarket design in aluminum was selected. The original Clutch Cylinder Shield could not be reused. So, some Reflect-A-GOLD high-temperature heat reflective wrap was used to minimize the heat transfer. The header primary tube also required a small dent to avoid direct contact.

The Power Steering System overhaul was complicated by some incorrect product descriptions & part numbers on Amazon and numerous belt exchanges @AutoZone due to sizing.

Thats the first 9 bolt ive seen with drum brakes. I'd read they were all posi/disc.

Unfortunately, it’s not POSI-TRACTION/LIMITED SLIP.

 

Pretty rare those are not disc and posi. Now that i think about it, i believe only the drum units were open diffs. I know i read that somewhere.

 

The original Hood decal had faded and it was cheaper to buy another Hood with an aftermarket decal then replace the decal.
