Good mechanic in Orange?

Hey guys!

Well, i've had some problem with my 86' iroc for a while now, and I have finally secured some money to deal with things. Im looking for a recommended mechanic in the Orange County area.

So far, I have gone to two corrupt places, (one which pulled my frame, but didn't really pull it right (camber was way off on the front tire, even after i paid to have them aligned/balanced again, wore off the new tire in 200 miles, they later charged me for a new spindle to fix it AGAIN)

Second charged me 1500 for a basic tune-up, plus a few extra things, and im still having the same problems I would like to have checked out.

Oh, I live in Lake Forest/Aliso Viejo, CA.

Does anyone here have a mechanic around here they could recommend to me? I can't afford to get burned again, last time my car was out of commission for the last 8 months as i've paid off what i owe from the last ripoff, and still the car isn't working right.

Here are the symptoms too, in case anyone is interested.

1. Transmission leak: Gasket looks like it's in poor shape. leaks 1qt a week. Fluid was changed 7000 miles ago, but the gasket looks like it was made for any type of 700r4, and had peices sticking out everywhere, is wet looking with fluid, and when i pinched an extention, it crumbled to nothing

2. Poor gas mileage, about 11MPG without any Wide Open Throttles, or spirited driving. ECU flashed Rich code before I reset it, never set the code again. Car used to get 22-28 MPG.

3. Clunking sound from front of car when brakes are applied: Balljoints?

4. Moaning from rear end on turns, and/or when brakes are slightly applied downhill with car at near stop: Differential? Brake calipers binding?

I really want the first two solved. Im fairly sure #1 is just a bad tranny pan gasket, but #2 puzzles me. I want #3 checked out because i don't want to turn down a road one day and have the front end of my car fall off or something. #4 has been going on for a while. I have had the rear-gear oil changed about 500 miles ago, and also had a slip additive added, it still makes the noise. Wheelbearings were replaced when the symptoms first started, which stopped the problem for 6 months.

Thanks guys! help me keep this damn money pit, so i can get to work to afford to build it up how i want it! : )

DynoDon

When I was looking for a mechanic, a lot of members of this board reffered me to Don, all of them gave rave reviews about the knowledge and experience that he has. So I called him and told him what I intended on doing and he was very helpful in making sure that I get all the right parts & everything else that was needed. I called him and e-mailed him a few times when I had questions and everytime he was very helpful, keep in mind that this was before I even met him. He installed my new exhaust (headers, cat & cat-back) and let me tell you, the quality and craftsmanship is second to none. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing a mechanic, I know that I am only taking my car to Don from now on. I am sure that someone else will validate this.

He is in Orange by the way, right by "The Pond"

Ive talked to Kevin91Z before, DynoDon is his dad right? At the time Don didn't take credit cards, which unfortunatly is what I need to use right now.

I suppose I could see about getting a loan for some cash though, now that I think about it.

Thanks for the responce! Hopefully Don will respond.

Don doesn't take credit cards, but you should be able to get a cash advance on the card from the issuer, and then pay Don cash.

Looks like we are getting the word out on Don so well that we are burying him!
