I found an excellent web site...

I've been shopping for an air compressor for my shop. I've been visiting http://www.sears.com/ (the web site for SEARS) a lot in the past couple of days in my search. (I've decided on a CRAFTSMAN 7 hp, 60 gallon 150 psi upright model). Today I just noticed that SEARS sells their stuff on eBay. Click on "auctions" just to the right of the "search by keyword or item#. You may find somethng there you need for a lot less than normal. I also bought another used floor standing drill press and discovered it was a SEARS model made in 85. I had fun looking up the available parts online as well. Lon

Please tell me its not oil-less.

If it is... invest in some earplugs.

Thanks for the heads up on the site, I might just have to browse around

Oil-lube system. But I haven't seen the compressor yet. The picture doesn't come up on SEARS web site and the stores don't stock anything this large. I called SEARS and a tech support person was supposed to e-mail me back answering my questions, but nothing so far. I know it has a belt drive, so it's not the dinky compressor. Lon

Lon,

do yourself a favor and look inthe recycler for an ingersoll-rand.

I picked up a T30 that is in perfect shape for $400. It is huge but I have the room that is no big deal. All I did was change the crank oil and put a new inlet filter on it and I was ready to roll. I have the exact same unit at work and it was $3000 new.

here are the specs:
5 HP Horizontal
CFM 14.9 at 75 PSIG, 14.8 at 125 PSIG, 14.7 at 175 PSIG
Max PSIG = 175

The IR's have a cast iron motor and are rebuildable. most so called "industrial" compressors are not.

I'd love to have one. But all my web searches found them for ridiculous pirces. New they would run just a shade under $1K. The model 2340L5 is what I'd want.
