Final step!
Final step!
Okay, I'm on the last string! I'm in the process of taking of my spindle and everything is off except where the spindle connects to the ball joint on the a-arm. Its like it rusted thru or something?
Is there a trick, special tool, what?
Thanks,
Jacob

You need a balljoint seperator (aka pickle fork, looks like a big tuning fork or hot dog fork, but, you know, thicker!
)... remove the cotter pin, and loosen the castellated nut so half of the nut is on the stud. Then put your pickle fork between the top of the balljoint and the bottom of the spindle, and give it a whack or three. The spindle will pop up, and not fall off, due to the fact that you left the nut on there. Then remove the fork, remove the nut, and remove the spindle.
To install the spindle, just tighten the castellated nut to it's torque spec, it'll seat the spindle on the balljoint.
I bought my pickle fork for $15 from Home Depot back in '96.

You're welcome. I made one mistake (I have tool cabinets on the brain); I didn't get my pickle fork from Home Depot, I bought it from Pep Boys. (Yep, finally bought a tool cabinet combo from Sears for $99, now I can move some tools off the floor!)
