why don't my SFC'S fit????

I ordered a pair of Chassis Engineering SFC"S and took them to a muffler shop where I know the guys and they were going to put them on for me for 40 bucks, good deal huh, that would have been a total of 135 bucks for installed SFC's, TOO BAD THEY DIDN'T FIT, AT ALL!!!!! ONE SIDE LOOKED LIKE IT WOULD FIT, BUT THE SIDE WITH THE CAT ONIT, NO WAY!!!

WHO HAS A CAR WITH AN H.O. MOTOR AND SFC'S, WHAT KIND DO YOU HAVE AND WHAT DID THEY COST??? bOLT ON OR WELD ONS???

It's not uncommon to have to modify either the SFC or move the exhaust or cat a bit to get them to fit. I've also seen 4th gen SFC's accidentally shipped instead of 3rd gen ones. But that mistake is easy to recognize. If the exhaust system has been swapped or modified some fit issues will arise. Also a SFC designed for a single cat won't fit a dual cat car. You did take it to the right place (muffler shop) to get it done. Just be sure they use a drive-on style lift rather than the frame lift style. The tires must be loaded by the weight of the car and the car level. Good luck, Lon.

Well , places like chassis eng. , chassis works , Southside Machine ect. market 3rd gen subframes but more of in a general sense . And further more they really arent designed for a car with converters and stock routed exhaust . There is room left on the table to install them how you want to install them , a plus imo . While the Kenny browns , hotchkis ect. are direct fit and obviously more expensive because of that . Keep that in mind guys when subframe shopping

my 84 T/A is was originally an HO car and i used the bolt-in Jegster sfc's from jegs and just welded them in. they are like $170 or something like that. fit perfect with an installed cat and they are tucked up nice and tight. easiest thin i ever put on my car.

Glad to hear that! I have a set of the Jegsters in my garage, just waiting for me to find the time to install them in my '83 T/A...

that is the exact same exhaust, part for part, i used to run and those sfc's fit perfect. you will have to drop the y-pipe to install the passenger side though, but that is just 4 bolts.
