Front-end Rebuild: need strut suggestions...
I've got the engine/transmission out on my '89 Camaro IROC-Z, and I figured that I'd go ahead and rebuild the front-end while the engine was out. My dad and I have done this before on my '88 Camaro SC with no problems, but the '88 only had a 2.8L engine in it and so it really wasn't much of a "performance" car. On the IROC, however, I would like to get as close to stock quality as possible. I'm not planning to be a bigtime racer or anything, so I don't need the highest-performing suspension parts on the market, but I don't want to get cheapo parts that are prone to failure.
I don't want to spend a lot of money (I'm only 17 and don't have that much to spend), but I don't think I should be getting the cheapest thing out there, either. So, in trying to make things as close to stock as possible, what should I be looking for with regards to the struts?
I think we're pretty much set on "Moog" for the rest of the front end parts. I'm just a little concerned about the struts because there seems to be a large range on price for those. For example, I can remember that, when we were rebuilding the front end on my '88 Camaro, at Autozone (where we got all of our parts), it seemed like there were only two or so struts that they carried-- the "cheap" ones for $60 each and then the "expensive" top-of-the-line ones for like $180 each. Is there a "middle-of-the-road" somewhere in there and, if so, do I need to be looking at some place other than Autozone?
Any other suggestions for rebuilding the front end on the IROC are definately welcome.
Thanks
