polyurethane or polygraphite?
polyurethane or polygraphite?
hey guys can anyone help me distinguish the difference between polyurethane and polygraphite and/or any other type of new bushings out there, which ones better, why and such
Polyurethane is actually considerably softer than polygraphite. Polygraphite has a higher durometer rating and is basically THE stiffest type of bushing you can install in your car. Of course, its not recommended on a daily driver as EVERY single bump in the road will be transferred uninterrupted and undampened into the chassis of the vehicle. Use polyurethane as it will fulfill most of your needs and minimize deformation.

I have polyurethane on my torque arm and sway bar, and the torque arm does squeak a little when I put it into reverse, but that's all. My control arms and panhard bar are polygraphite and I have no complaints with it at all.
Actually, polygraphite is just a polyurethane with graphite impregnation that helps with the "sqeaks". Polygraphite may be slightly harder than normal, but you really shouldnt notice any difference over polyurethane.
If you really want to feel the bumps in the road, go with metal bushings and spherical rod ends
If you bushings are sqeaking excessively, you need to lubricate them with some silicone based lube, like the type that comes with your bushings in the little packets.
