brake noise
brake noise
i have an 87 iroc with four wheel disc brakes.
when i lightly apply the brakes, and a lot of the time even without applying them while going 25 mph or less, the passenger side makes a loud rattling sound, similar to a trumpet. i have taken the brakes apart before and i believe it is because the caliper is too loose, because their is excess play in the rotor, but i have replaced the caliper twice and it still does it. is their any way to adjust the caliper or does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this?
thanks

Hmmm...
The rotor should have "no play" that is the crown nut
should be a aprox 12 ft lbs +1/6 turn....
The caliper will have a little play on the pins
(o-rings ) but the clearance between the spindle ear
and caliper should be no more than .012 in
More likely is the outer pad is not crimped to the caliper
Most likely is...
Need to be flushed/bled
